We are looking for a **Research Assistant/Analyst/Consultant **to join our well-established public policy practice that conducts legal studies and carries out evaluations and impact assessments for the European Commission, in particular **_DG Justice and Consumers and its agencies _**(FRA, EIGE, Eurojust).
Our current portfolio of projects reflects the diversity of the policy areas covered by DG Justice. Examples of some of our recent and/or current assignments include: a legal study on the phenomenon of letterbox companies, an impact assessment on the protection of whistle-blowers; a study on data sharing; an evaluation of the environmental crime Directive; an evaluation of the equal Pay Directive; a study on intersex people in the EU; a feasibility study for establishing a centre for victims of terrorism, the evaluation of the victims’ rights Directive, a study to support the preparation of an impact assessment on a possible Union legislative initiative on the recognition of parenthood between Member States.
**What you’ll get to do**:
**Your main responsibilities will include**:
- Undertake high-quality research, analysis and data collection activities
- Carry out research and field work tasks on specific countries
- Conduct qualitative (experience with NVIVO an advantage) and quantitative analysis (experience with Excel is essential and SPSS, STATA desirable)
- Arrange, conduct and facilitate interviews, surveys and focus group
- Accompany colleagues on site visits and to client meetings
- Collaborate closely with other project teams, and external partners and stakeholders
- Contribute towards the preparation of tenders and reports for the European Commission and other EU clients
**Desirable experience and competences**:
- Full qualification in law (Bachelor’s degree in law, including EU law and private law)
- At least two years’ work experience within the context of EU law and policies
- Strong legal research, analytical and reporting skills
- Knowledge of European policy making process and EU Institutions
- Excellent written (including editing and proofreading skills) and oral (fluency in English and at least one other European language) communication skills
- Highly developed, interpersonal skills and self-motivation
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy

- Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work within multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary teams spread across several countries
- Sound research and business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
- Ability to be flexible to handle multiple priorities, and manage a varied workload to achieve agreed deadlines without compromising quality or standards
- Highly developed, interpersonal skills and self-motivation
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to demonstrate a can-do approach, as a problem solver and team player
