**Job description**:
The Space business within QinetiQ is involved in a wide variety of exciting projects and programs, from developing and building satellites to complex space instruments and mechanisms. Because of the growth of the business, a dedicated Project Management Office (PMO) will be put in place to support the organization with project governance and as such enhance the quality and speed of our project delivery.
As Head of PMO, you will monitor, control, and analyse the status of our space projects. As a spider in a web, your advice and support will be needed to get projects back on track in case they deviate from the baseline. As owner of the project management processes, you will guide the organisation towards continuously improved tools and processes, in line with applicable standards and internal guidelines.
Within your team, the project administration and document configuration management will be executed. Your ideas and guidance will be requested.
**Your key responsibilities will be**:
- Project governance
- Monitor, analyse, and escalate the (financial) status of projects. Be on the lookout for different scenarios and provide advice to the leadership team to enable correct and adequate decision making.
- Analyse the project data. Set-up and maintain a mechanism to report on these analysis (project/program/portfolio reports, lessons learned). Define and maintain relevant KPI to follow up on project execution.
- Treat this as a continuous improvement process to enhance on speed, cost, quality, and reliability of project execution.
- Project management process owner
- Define, describe, and keep the project management processes up-to-date and in line with EN9100 standards and internal QinetiQ processes. Provide support to audits regarding this topic.
- Guide and support the selection and use of professional tools to enhance project management and resource planning.
- Assure work instructions and templates are in place and in line with the project management processes.
- Support the financial forecast process as owned by the finance team by gathering and reviewing the financial forecast of the projects (milestone payment plans). Guide the process to assure the cash-in/cash-out forecast is correctly reflected in the financial system and timely executed.
- Steer how the project and document administration needs to be done in the most efficient way.
- People management
- Master’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in an appropriate discipline, with 10+ years of relevant experience in project management. Experience in a supervisory position is a plus, as well as experience in space environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experience of budget and resource management in a project management context.
- Knowledge and experience in project management processes and methodologies.
- Ability to effectively influence, communicate and negotiate with all levels of management and project stakeholders.
- Ability to empower and inspire people to achieve success.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as in a team, and to deliver high quality outputs in a timely manner.
- Fluent in English, knowledge of Dutch is a plus
