We are looking for a highly skilled IT ERP Basis Lead who is passionate, agile, and customer-focused to join us in our ERP systems team, based in our UCB Global office in Braine L’alleud, Belgium.
About the role:
The IT ERP team at UCB is entrusted with the responsibility of managing the ERP systems on a global scale. Utilized across the company by over 5,000 employees, these ERP systems serve as the fundamental transactional backbone. Should there be a standstill or a critical incident, the impact on UCB's essential business processes—such as production, distribution, and payments—would be significant.
Our team outlines the ERP strategy for UCB, taking into account future technological needs, the provision of services, project delivery to meet both business and IT requirements, as well as resource allocation. Various functions of this role are governed by GxP regulations, particularly those related to Manufacturing & Labs. Meanwhile, other functions adhere to specific financial rules and guidelines, like those pertinent to Finance & Purchasing.
Our SAP systems undergo regular audits, both internally and externally. These external audits can either be initiated by official agencies, typically focusing on a specific drug, or by UCB itself, especially in relation to the publication of its annual financial statements. It's worth noting that negative audit outcomes could lead to severe consequences, ranging from halting production to withdrawing a drug from the market or even preventing UCB from releasing its financial results.
Supporting the IT ERP team is a group of technical experts. They provide cross-functional services to the vertical IT Functional Domains, which include IT Finance & Purchasing, IT Global Supply Chain, and IT Manufacturing & Labs.
Who you’ll work with:
You will be working directly with technical experts in the fields of Basis, Development, and User Access Management. Moreover, as our ERP ecosystem is not an island, you will also be regularly in touch with colleagues from Infrastructure, Integration, and Cybersecurity. In your role as IT ERP Basis Lead, you will be leading your own offshore support team, and providing both guidance and services to our functional colleagues from IT Manufacturing / IT Quality Assurance / IT Supply Chain / IT Finance / IT Purchasing.
What you will do:
1. Be Our Go-To SAP Basis Expert
Master the intricacies of SAP's architecture, hardware & software configurations, and support mechanisms.
Influence UCB's various projects with your technical acumen, ensuring uninterrupted SAP access 24/7.
Champion process simplification, functionality enhancement, and efficient IT system utilization.
Commit to a culture of continuous learning, staying on the cutting edge of SAP developments for the benefit of UCB.
Empower fellow IT ERP team members by sharing insights, facilitating skills enhancement, and promoting resource synergy.
Uphold compliance and cultivate your knowledge of validated procedures.
2. Spearhead RUN Activities
Implement monitoring tools to refine and boost the efficiency of processes in line with agreed standards.
3. Lead the Basis Support Team
Collaborate with the RUN team, ensuring alignment with UCB's distinguished standards and procedures.
4. Support our Functional Projects
Design solutions in harmony with global organization requisites, ensuring local requirements complement global processes.
Review and greenlight system changes, focusing on value-driven outcomes.
Foster collaboration, guiding project teams with UCB's defined standards.
5. Execute Technical Projects Pertaining to Basis
Design solutions that resonate with global mandates while safeguarding the sanctity of globally defined processes.
Seamlessly weave SAP processes with external systems, ensuring fluid end-to-end process execution.
6. Maintain Our ERP Ecosystem
Identify opportunities to elevate the system landscape, ensuring optimal SAP utility.
Leverage your prowess to enhance the IT ERP team's performance and bolster support to business units.
7. Champion Cybersecurity Initiatives
Stay informed of the latest cybersecurity trends, implementing robust security measures and timely patches.
8. Shape the Future of our Platforms
Stay attuned to SAP's latest innovations, disseminating insights within the team.

Interested? For this role, we're looking for the following education, experience, and skills:
- A Master's degree in a relevant field.
- A rich legacy in SAP Basis expertise, spanning a minimum of 10 years.
- Solid grasp of SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP S/4HANA.
- A track record in project and service management.
- Proficiency in regulated computing processes, especially within a GxP environment.
- Between 5-10 years of IT experience in a global multi-national setting, with a tilt toward the pharmaceutical sector.
