We are looking for a **Head of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)** who is **expert in risk management in a matrix business environment and able to influence and guide at senior leadership level** to join us in our **Global Sustainability, Corporate Affairs and Risk team,** based in our **HQ in Brussels, Belgium.**

**About the role**

The purpose of the role is to provide oversight and direction for the management of all risks across UCB. The role holder oversees the dialogue on and review of key enterprise risks with the Executive Committee. The role involves regular reporting to management, Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.

The role holder needs to keep abreast of the latest thinking and regulatory requirements in ERM to ensure continuous improvement and the establishment of best practices across the organization. The Head of ERM partners with the Sustainability and Corporate Affairs team to assess external trends and with the Corporate Strategy Team to ensure that UCB strategic vision is developed with consideration for the risks involved, and that the risk/reward equation is proactively managed.

The breadth of the role is group wide and therefore the ability to support and engage with all areas of the business is crucial. The role holder will act as a role model to drive sustainable performance and foster a culture of transparency, integrity, care and psychological safety in line with UCB culture and company priorities

**Who you’ll work with**

The role of Head of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) reports to the Global Head of Sustainability, Corporate Affairs and Risks. The Global Head of Sustainability, Corporate Affairs and Risks reports to UCB CEO.

**What you’ll do***
- Manage a team who are the partners of business leaders for assessing risks across the organization.
- Contribute with the team to the continuous development of UCB Risk Management Information System that captures all aspects of the risk and control environment.
- Foster informed discussion around risks at all levels of the organization and during decision-making processes.
- Ensure excellence in execution: identification of risks at all levels, analysis, evaluation of impact (financial, reputational, ESG), potential mitigation, monitoring and review; ensure that risks are timely and accurately escalated in accordance with internal thresholds.
- Keep abreast of emerging external influence factors and reporting requirements in close collaboration with the Sustainability and Corporate Affairs teams.
- Manage and develop UCB internal risk champion network, in collaboration with the ERM team.
- Review and calibrate the risk assessment results from various departments and entities and contribute to timely and reliable aggregated reporting and communication to senior management.
- Collaborate closely with the Corporate Strategy team to ensure that UCB strategic vision is developed with consideration for the risks involved, and that the risk/reward equation is proactively managed.
- Engage in regular dialogue with the Global Internal Audit team to ensure a close follow up on key risks.
- Engage the Executive Committee in regular reviews of key Enterprise Risks and their impact on UCB strategy.
- Prepare the risk reporting for UCB Governance bodies, including the Board of Directors Board and report key Enterprise Risks in the Integrated Annual Report.

**I**nterested? For this role we’re looking for the following** **education, experience** **and **skills***
- A master’s degree with a Certification in Risk management qualification (eg. Institute of Risk Management), preferred
- Experience working in a large matrix business environment in a risk role
- Experience of building effective relationships with senior management (including Executive Committee & possibly Board level)
- Ability to understand and analyze problems quickly and devise solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence and to work closely with people at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrable independent and inquisitive mindset and ability to challenge the status quo.
- Self-motivated, robust and resilient, able to absorb pressure and respond positively
- Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate/manage the appropriate outcome
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize
- Ability to communicate effectively in both a verbal and written format creating visual reports or presentations.
