At the confluence between generation (electricity production) and retail (electricity consumption), optimization is in charge to manage Luminus position on the financial/energy market to ensure that at all times there is a matching between the electricity/gas supply and demand. To do this, it is needed to optimize the volumes to be processed on the market and to extract the maximum value from its assets through market engineering. Such activities rely extensively on data and insights that could be extracted from them. The quality, relevance and quantity of these insights will be key to help optimization to continue to take the right decisions.
Within the Data Intelligence team of the Optimization department, the Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for the development and maintenance of reports based on our energy portfolio. He/she receives the business requirements and, with the support of the team, translates these into functional requirements and finally implements the report independently. The Business Intelligence developer is responsible for creating reports and their maintenance. The position requires an understanding of the concepts and modelling of the energy optimization activity. A good degree of data modelling is required to gain efficiency and performance. The position is initially centralized on the BI tool (Qlik Sense) but is scalable and goes towards data engineering to gradually migrate models and complexity to the cloud (data mart on AWS (Amazon Web Services)).
**Specific tasks**
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their reporting and analysis needs.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, and other developers to ensure that BI solutions meet business needs.
- Design and develop data models that support business reporting and analytics.
- Collect business requirements and translate them into technical functionalities
- Develop reports and dashboards that present data in an understandable and actionable format.
- Implement data quality controls to ensure that data used in reporting and analysis is accurate and reliable.
- Document BI systems, data models, and ETL processes to ensure that the systems are maintainable and supportable.
- Share knowledge around BI development, as well as related areas such as data visualization and data analysis.
- Degree in economics, engineering or IT
- Knowledge of BI tools such as **Qlik Sense is a must-have**:
- Coding skills (Qlik, SQL, Python,)
- Experience in energy or finance is an advantage
- Agile way of working
- Structured approach and strong analytical attitude/mindset.
- Problem-solving attitude
- Outgoing and with excellent communication skills
- A sense of initiative and responsibility.
- Good knowledge of the English language, with good knowledge of French or Dutch.
- Knowledge of the risk management tools principles and techniques is an advantage.
- Data warehousing knowledge is a great plus.
