- _"Symphony of Us" (SoU) is a project supported by the King Baudouin Foundation (KBF), in which researchers from different universities work together. The project focuses on patient value in cancer research. The aim is to establish a self-organizing transdisciplinary team (team members with different educational backgrounds and professional experiences) which will jointly design the research proposal and objectives of the research, and will investigate the main research question and sub-research questions in a transdisciplinary manner. Co-creation and participatory approaches closely involving the main stakeholders in the field will be at the center of the project. _

**YOUR TASKS**
- _As a postdoctoral researcher at UGent, you will work under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sofie Bekaert. Prof. Bekaert is currently Manager Translational Program at the Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie (VIB). As of January 2024 Sofie Bekaert will the coordinator of the healthcare program at KBF. She is part-time senior lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UGent. Sofie Bekaert is liaising to strategic translational initiatives concerning biobanking and clinical research and innovation, both at the regional and (inter)national level. _
- _During this assignment you will work in the team of the SoU (80%) to:_
- _Build together a self-organizing team, as well as governance framework for the SoU project_
- _Develop a project proposal together with stakeholders in the cancer research field _
- _Conduct transdisciplinary research through a combination of reflection and action methods on the topic of patient value in cancer research, while building upon each of the team members’ individual professional expertise._
- _During this assignment you will also work under the supervision of Prof. Bekaert to explore and implement the 8 caring technology principles (20%), more specifically:_
- _Translate the principles in tools for education purposes_
- _Translate the principles as a valuable tool for (translational) research project selection procedures_
- _Organize interactive multistakeholder activities to challenge and refine the 8CTPs_

**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
- You have a Doctoral degree on dissertation in the fields of 1) law, 2) pharmaceutical sciences, 3) biomedical sciences
- team player with relevant experience in project management, planning, organization and follow-up,
- experience with mixed-methods research designs (qualitative and quantitative),
- experience exploring inter
- and/or transdisciplinary research questions and working with inter
- and/or transdisciplinary teams,
- experience with involving key stakeholders, especially patients and patient representatives, in the design and conduct of research,
- experience with the EU and Belgian legal framework for health research
- experience with innovation management is a plus,
- experience with cancer research is a plus,
- experience with multistakeholder dialogue is a plus,
- strong communicator with service orientation,
- fluent in spoken and written English.

**WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU**
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 2 years.
- Your contract will start on 1/01/2024 at the earliest.
