Ships Agent

**What does the role look like?**

You will be responsible for acting as the local representative for ship owners, charterers, or operators at the port, ensuring that all logístical, operational, and regulatory requirements are efficiently handled during a vessel’s stay. The primary responsibility is to facilitate the smooth arrival, port stay, and departure of ships, while also identifying and driving commercial opportunities for growth within the port office.

**Key responsibilities**
- Act as the main point of contact for the ship's master (captain), owners, and principles, providing real-time updates on the vessel’s status and any issues.
- Handle inquiries from ship owners and charterers, ensuring their requests are addressed promptly.
- Serve as a liaison between the vessel and relevant port authorities, ensuring smooth communication and coordination.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, such as stevedores, ship suppliers, local vendors, port authorities, and terminal operators to facilitate the vessel’s smooth arrival, stay, and departure.
- Attend the vessel upon arrival, during its stay, and before departure, managing tasks like customs and immigration clearances for crew and cargo.
- Coordinate the delivery of supplies and services to the vessel in a timely manner, ensuring there are no delays in operations.
- Prepare and submit all necessary paperwork, such as cargo documents, bills of lading, and customs forms.

**Qualifications**
- A minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in the ship agency industry, demonstrating a foundational understanding of port operations, ship clearances, and logistics.
- The ability to interact positively and to build and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, authorities, vendors, and clients, fostering a collaborative working environment.
- Strong moral principles and honesty in all dealings, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- The ability to effectively plan and prioritize tasks to manage multiple demands and meet tight deadlines.
- Hands-on experience in overseeing the operational aspects of a ship agency, including coordination with various stakeholders (e.g., port authorities, shipmasters, suppliers).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with clients, port authorities, and team members.
