Our client is a fintech that offers start-ups and established businesses a wide range of payment services, such as transaction processing, BIN sponsorship, e-money issuance and digital wallet provision, as well as full programme management and value-added services such as PSD2 and AML compliance expertise. The company is trusted to manage ground-breaking payment programmes such as prepaid/debit cards, travel money cards, gift cards, corporate cards, insurance cards, rewards cards, loyalty cards, staff cards (like Ticket Restaurant, Eco Cheque), promotional cards, corporate expense. The company's programmes operate across multiple media and form factors, including physical, virtual and Apple Pay/Google Pay. The company has over 200 client programmes across 26 countries.
The role:
He/she manages a team of 3 employees in charge of accounting, planning and analysis and the specific process of safeguarding funds.
Main Responsibilities
Responsible for the monthly closing (accruals, balance review), supported by UK teams in charge of the transactional operations. Ensure Belgium standards are met for accounting, tax, NBB requirements. Manages BEGAAP specific entries.
Collecting, interpreting, and reviewing financial information
Reviewing, monitoring, and managing budgets
Reporting to management and stakeholders, producing financial reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, expenses etc.
Responsible for the relationship with partner banks in Belgium and liaise with external parties (“Secretariat Sociaux”, “SPF Finance”, legal and tax advisors, internal and external auditors,) to ensure compliance.
In charge of the Quarterly Balance Sheet Reporting (“Consolidation”) under IFRS to the Group
Ensure finance regulatory compliance of the entity (Safeguarding, Capital requirement, regulatory reporting).
Control and approval of the safeguarding of funds as a regulated E-Money issuer
Control the daily protection of regulated cash (for EU and UK).
Control the adequacy and accuracy of the financial statements.
Manage and follow proactively any balance sheet risks.
Manage the annual audit and produce annual financial statement.
Contribute and support the group reporting (monthly P&L) and financial forecasting (budget, reforecast, strategic plan).
Manage the tax matters (VAT, Corporation tax, Transfer pricing,) supported by Group and external advisors.
Review, challenge and improve existing finance processes to make them lean and efficient.

Competent authorities (NBB, ACPR, MinFin, SPFE, etc)
**Requirements**:
Experienced / Qualified Accountant.
7 years’ experience in accounting and control, especially recent experience in VAT return, financial statement preparation.
All-round accounting and financial experience - an SME background environment for example.
Autonomous and leadership to drive compliance and improvement of the finance function.
Problem solving skills and solution-oriented mindset.
Attention to detail, hardworking and approachable character with willingness to support and improve the finance tasks.
Excellent Excel is required. Knowledge of Qlikview, Hyperion & Smartview and Oracle would be beneficial.
Highly organized, focus on delivery on agreed scope, quality and time.
Strong oral and verbal communication.
Fluency in English and French or Dutch. Require strong and frequent interactions with UK teams. Must be fully at ease in speaking regularly in English.
Excellent relationship management.
Positive attitude and outlook, determined, enthusiastic and resilient.

Teleworking is possible. However, the management’s role is expected to facilitate face-to-face teamwork and infrequent travel is required to meet with UK teams and European partners.
