Topic

Televic is interested in mapping the flow of passengers through a train during operation. Using this information, the train staff can assure optimal usage of the space in the train and avoid bottlenecks or too crowded coaches, for instance by making targeted announcements to direct the passengers to calmer regions of the train. Televic only has CCTV footage available, so the student should build a tool to automatically detect persons on this footage, map movement patterns and visualize the info on a floor plan of the train. Ideally, the computational cost of the method is small, so it can run on the hardware that is available on the train itself.
