**We are looking for an experienced public **and regulatory affairs **professional with **5 - **10 **years of relevant experience **to join our **Santander Brussels **Government Relations **team **.**

Santander believes in the importance of a constructive dialogue and exchange of expertise and ideas between the banking sector, policy makers, regulators, supervisors and other stakeholders to ensure the regulatory framework for the banking sector meet the needs of the European economy and its competitiveness, both today and for the future.
We are expanding our EU Public Policy team in Brussels. The goal of the EU Public Policy Santander team is to provide a perspective to policy makers on the policy and regulatory initiatives that most impact our ability to serve our clients as a bank. Our team works closely with colleagues from Santander across geographies and business areas.
Your role will include advising our internal colleagues in the business as we navigate regulatory, political and reputational issues of substantial commercial and societal significance, as well as articulating and deploying impactful engagement strategies towards external stakeholders to respond to those issues.
**What you will do**
- Manage and direct a number of public affairs and communications campaigns for Santander, and work in close partnership with our business teams in various geographies
- Assist in our outreach to policy makers, stakeholders and the media
**Who you are**
- 5 - 8 years of working experience relating to EU policy, ideally acquired by working with the EU institutions, in-house or through a consultancy firm.
- You have an excellent understanding of the EU institutions and political dynamics
- You have strong business acumen and appreciation of the commercial impact of policy decisions
- You understand how a business model is impacted by policy and regulatory developments
- You have a strong policy network
- You have excellent first class communication and writing skills
- You have an entrepreneurial approach and are committed to continuous learning
- You can solve problems and exercise excellent judgment with the ability to think creatively ‘outside of the box’
- You can formulate and implement successful and impactful public affairs campaign and stakeholder communications strategies
- You are a dynamic team player and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- You have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to offer high-level advice on the spot
