JOB PURPOSE & OBJECTIVES

Unizima’s expansion plans are focused on emerging economies in Latin America, the GCC, MENA and Sub-Saharan Africa.

By deploying technology transfers projects with local pharma companies and public/private partnerships, we want to dismantle barriers for a better health and prosperity to all

Based in Brussels, Unizima is seeking an experienced business development manager who is part of a transversal team full of passionate change-makers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be in charge of leading business development transactions within LMIC’s regions.

The Business development manager enables the creation of long-term value for the organization from

customers

markets

, and

relationships

, leveraging on a strong cultural agility and preserving company’s reputation.

As such, you will be responsible for the following aspects:

- Provide customers with dedicated proposal according to their business case / project scope and aligned with Unizima services portfolio, leading to the materialization of a commercial offer (i.e., specific work-packages).
- Prospecting, negotiating, and closing deals from initial contact through signed agreements, in a consultative selling process
- Identify and research potential clients
- Develop, build, and grow relationships and close business with both new and existing clients in LMIC (South and Southest Asia). Identify and influence key decision makers at all levels within the client organization.
- Regularly network and develop relationships with prospective partners, academic institutions, and licensors while evaluating opportunities at medical and business development conferences
- Influence and model the financial business case opportunities from inception to close.
- Track, Identify and qualify new sales opportunities.
- Track and report on the status of proposal components
- Make and give presentations to prospective clients and internal executives
- Conduct market research and Maintain awareness of industry trends and other market factors (ex. Government regulations) impacting the business.
- Ensure proper submission of the offers, taking into account legal constraints linked to the proposed commercial services
- Conduct due diligence, formulate partnership strategies and present recommendation to the management team as well as mange transactional and execution steps to close
- Interact closely with internal Public Affairs to align with governmental, national, and international institutional strategies to develop fit-to-purpose business development
- Align business development with Unizima makerting strategy and leverage on new business opportunities to continuously adapt the marketing strategy, leveraging on close collaboration with internal teams to sell Unizima’s services
- Makes sure to link (hand-over) properly business case in order to facilitate project implementation, considering preliminary scope, budget and timeline

PROFILE (QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- MBA or related advanced degree, strong scientific orientation and proven experience in the pharmaceutical / biotech / life science industry.
- 5+ years in business development roles in Pharma and/or Biotech and solid scientific background with an in-depth understanding of biopharmaceuticals.
- Basics of Project Management
- Pricing management knowledge
- Demonstrated Customer Relationship skills
- Ability to summarize critical points and escalate appropriately
- Advanced Microsoft office expertise
- Solution driven, analytical thinker and creative problem solver
- Internal and external data-base Management (SAP)
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and other market factors (ex. Government regulations) impacting the business.
- Ensure proper submission of the offers, taking into account legal constraints linked to the proposed commercial services
- Strong network in worldwide or regional life sciences sector and demonstrated track record in leading strategic transactions including negotiating complex agreements and driving business decisions.
- A resourceful, strategic and analytical thinker and creative problem solver who can help shape both individual deals and the future strategy of the business.
- A strong scientific orientation - in-depth understanding of the drug discovery and development process.
- Knowledge or experience in vaccines and bio-similar deal-making is a plus.
- Experience in working with LMICs is a plus.
- Be an excellent and inspirational leader in order to push forward the several leads and projects.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills - the ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences (colleagues, scientific and technical leaders, financial institutions, governments, pharmaceutical and business partners, collaborators, customers, and senior executives).
