**POLITICO Live is looking for an Events & Operation Trainee **to join its Brussels-based events team starting** July 2024 for a 6-month period**.
In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of POLITICO’s policy events: you will learn how to recruit and manage top-level speakers, draft content for our marketing communications, coordinate the logistics & successful delivery of the event on the day and tracking results and impact.
As our events involve cross-platform elements (print and online) and the input of many different stakeholders, the Events Trainee interacts with colleagues from a wide range of departments across the company, including Editorial, Media Solutions, Marketing and Logistics.
POLITICO Live is the live extension of our journalism, providing a platform for coverage and analysis of the ideas and people driving politics and policy. Our mission is to amplify the impact of our journalism and illuminate, through our diverse formats, the most important political and policy issues facing Europe.
**Note**:This is a paid traineeship and does not require applicants to be current students.**
**What You’ll Do**
Operation & logistics
- Support Live Operations team in the research of venues for our events & summits
- Assist Live Operation team to research new providers & support in the delivery of a new Live experience
- Assist Live Operations and Project Managers in the preparation of material for our events
- Train on how to run event management on site (event set-up, speaker coordination, welcoming our audience, briefing providers)
Marketing and communications support
- Prepare marketing briefs
Content research (speakers, program,....)
- Train with the Live Editor on how to research and balance speaker line ups that fits our editorial programs
- Provide assistant researching background information on event topics
Speakers’ recruitment and management:
- Train with the Events Portfolio Manager and the Live Editor to recruit and manage speakers
- Prepare invitation templates and send speaker invites
- Set up speaker's pre-event briefing calls as well as prepare supporting documentation
- Manage some speaker liaison throughout the project development and onsite at the event
- Train to create and update the event microsites, apps, etc
- Ensure a constant update of the database throughout the production process
Database and mailbox management
- Ensure a constant update of the database throughout the production process
- Train to manage our Live inbox to answer readers’ and guests' questions
Clients' relationship assistance:
- Assist with the preparation of weekly calls, and implementation of client benefits (logo visibility, guest registration, briefing documents, etc.)
- Support Project Managers tracking results and preparing event reports
**What You’ll Need**:
- The ability to multitask and must have excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of the function of the European Union and the process of its policies.
- News savvy, enthusiastic about digital journalism and the political sphere
- Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages, such as French, German, Spanish and/or Italian is a plus.
