The Corporate Legal department of the SD Worx group (Headquarters in Belgium) is seeking a full-time Director Legal Business Partners to manage the team of the legal business partners (company lawyers) of the SD Worx group.

As Director Legal Business Partners**, **you will become part of a **dynamic, multinational legal team**. The current corporate legal team works from Belgium (HQ), Germany, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom and consists of 22 legal counsels in different expert areas.

As such, you will coach a team of 14 dedicated legal counsels on a wide scope of work, with a **focus on commercial, contract and IT law**. You report directly to the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer and will be working closely with the Director Specialised Legal and Director Legal Compliance to shape the corporate legal department of the future to help in the organization’s growth.

You will partner with management, business stakeholders, outside counsel and other legal & compliance functions to initiate and implement strategic projects in your focus countries and across the group. This allows you to have a big impact on the growing business of SD Worx.

**Which key responsibilities will you have?**

**Coaching and Mentoring**:

- Coach and inspire a team of 14 dedicated in-house legal counsels spread around several European countries
- Actively manage the SD Worx’ Corporate Legal team’s objectives and coordination

**Guideline Adherence**:

- Ensure that our legal team adheres to group guidelines on legal and compliance topics.
- Monitor and enforce compliance standards within the team.

**Team Cohesion**:

- Foster collaboration and improve the coherence within the team of company lawyers across Europe.
- Encourage proactively share and encourage sharing of legal knowledge on all aspects of the SD Worx business towards and within the legal team

**Junction and Glue**:

- Act as a central point of contact and bridge between our in-house legal counsels and other parts of the legal team, including corporate housekeeping, legal compliance, and specialized legal functions.
- Actively manage the continuous improvement of the legal department, including its digitalization

**Business Support**:

- Actively contribute to the development and implementation of the SD Worx strategic, business and operational plans
- Give sound yet clear, cost-effective and highly practical legal advice in order to support SD Worx management, operations and sales, to help ensure legal compliancy;
- Actively contribute to the communication and implementation of the legal policies, templates, guidelines and processes and to the establishment of training material and training in this regard.

**What do you have to offer?**
- Natural leader with experience in managing a team of legal counsels or the ambition to coach and inspire a team, including the ability to communicate in an assertive and clear manner to those who have a strong understanding of the law, and those with novice knowledge.
- Language skills: English (orally and in writing) and good knowledge of other languages such as Dutch, French, German and/or Spanish is considered to be a great asset;
- A university degree in law obtained at an European University;
- 10+ years’ experience as an attorney and/or as an in-house legal counsel (preferably within an international company) with a focus on 1 or more of the following areas of law: contract, commercial, ICT;
- Excellent organizational skills that allow you to plan and prioritize projects;
- First-rate analytical, negotiation and contract drafting skills;
- Excellent business acumen in regard to understanding business operation and objectives, permitting your provision of legal advice aligning with business strategy.
- Hands-on and can-do mentality;
- The ability to deal with complex issues and to take responsibility for difficult decisions;
- Combine a risk-conscious working style with a no nonsense and goal-oriented attitude;
- The ability to find creative solutions;
- Be a team player, yet able to work autonomously;
- The ability to develop strong working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders;
