Luminus’ Optimisation department wants to proactively leverage its market expertiseto guide Luminus’ strategy & activities in line with Luminus’ mission statement in order to
- (1) **increase Luminus’ competitive advantage** in a changing market driven by build-out of renewable energy sources, electrification of demand & introduction of newtechnologies;
- (2)** reinforce Luminus’ resilience** in a market characterised by price volatility and uncertainties on energy supply and
- (3) **assert Luminus’ own interests** towards external stakeholders (e.g. Elia, CREG, Fluxys, Engie,...)

In such a way that
- The **EDF risk mandate is fully respected & challenged** when needed
- Key** risk management processes** are rigorously implemented & **operational excellence **pursued (including through data management)
- **Collaboration with internal stakeholders** is structurally reinforced
- Optimisation’s **dynamic and ‘can-do’ culture** is preserved, fostered & efficiently leveraged

The Middle Office function, sitting in between the front office & the back office, is an important cornerstone of this ambition. More specifically, the Middle Office Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that
- (1) Optimisation activities **run efficiently**,
- (2)** key risks are monitored & managed**,
- (3) effective decision-making can take place based on** complete & accurate portfolio reporting** (on P&L, physical and financial positions,Value-at-risk).
- The same activities allow the Middle Office function to act as an important **internal control function **for the entire Optimisation department.

**Mission of the role**
- The mission of the Middle Office manager is as follows:

- 1) **Portfolio Modelling**: Ensure accurate portfolio modelling & contract implementations
- 2) **Portfolio Reporting**: Provide daily reporting & analysis on portfolio positions, mark-to-market & business risks
- 3) **Business Risk**: Act as the first line of defence for important business risks (e.g. risk of non-compliance with market regulation, risk of non-compliance with EDF risk mandate, risk of operational errors leading to financial losses)
- 4) **Business Processes**: Structure ways of working around processes rather than individuals via the formalisation and improvement of Optimisation processes
- 5) **Business Change**: Shape the future by defining the IT roadmap in collaboration with IT & providing Optimisation core business expertise and change management on IT transformations

**Knowledge & Experience**
- Master in a quantitative discipline, e.g. Engineering or Economics.
- Min. 3 years experience in managing teams.
- Min. 3 years experience in Optimisation domain, experience of working in a regulated trading role or working closely with trading teams.
- Strong and proven track record of fully** understanding the requirements of working within a pre-defined risk framework**.
- ** Knowledge of financial instruments** (forwards, options, swaps,..) and risk management concepts (hedging, value-at-risk, earnings-at-risk, volumetric limits,...).
- ** Experience in leading projects** and managing operational processes, ensuring robustness and efficiency.
- ** Affinity with trading and risk management systems**.
