**ASSIGNMENT**
This full-time position as assistant professor tenure track is situated in the department of “Animal Sciences and Aquatic Ecology” (Faculty of Bioscience Engineering). The core activities are academic education, scientific research and scientific services within the field of sustainable animal production, animal physiology and nutrition. The specific aim is to integrate a broad basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of animal organisms within the core expertise of the Animal Sciences and Aquatic Ecology department and in particular in connection with the Laboratory for Animal Nutrition and Animal Product Quality (Lanupro), as described in the integration text.
**Academic education**
The teaching assignment is situated within 'animal'-related education at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, primarily within the industrial engineering curricula and the MSc in Aquaculture, and possibly also within the bioengineering curriculum. This new mandate should strengthen the involvement and presence in these programs, in particular in the BSc in Bioscience Engineering Technology. In concrete terms, the teacher will be responsible for or will co-teach the following course units:
- Zoology: Morphology and Systematics (1st BSc Bioscience Engineering Technology - 4 credits - Course specs Eng);
- Animal Physiology (2nd BSc Bioscience Engineering Technology: agricultural and horticultural science, food industry - 5 credits - Course specs Eng);
- Reproductive Physiology of Animals (2nd Bioscience Engineering Technology: agricultural and horticultural science (major plant & animal production) - 4 credits - Course specs Eng);
- Physiology of aquatic organisms (1st MSc in Aquaculture - 3 credits - Course specs Eng).

You contribute to the internal and external services of the Animal Sciences and Aquatic Ecology department. In addition to extensive scientific services, involvement is also expected with regard to services in the context of education (quality), in particular within the framework of the Bachelor of Science training committee of Bioscience Engineering Technology.

**PROFILE**
**Experience**
- You have already conducted eminent academic research in the given discipline, which is clearly reflected in publications in high-quality academic journals and peer-reviewed books;
- You are capable of initiating, supervising and acquiring the necessary funding for academic research;
- You are didactically skilled to teach university students to develop academic competences and can demonstrate that you can successfully guide students at master's and doctoral level;
- Recommended are:
- International mobility, such as research stays at institutions other than the one where you acquired your highest academic degree;
- Positively evaluated experience in provided or organised academic lecturing;
- Professionalisation of education
- You can demonstrate that you have extensive knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of animals (structure of the animal cell, life cycle of various vertebrates and invertebrates, functioning of the various organ systems), for example by successfully providing for or actively participating in academic teaching of analogous course units as in the described educational assignment (see higher).
- You must master the language of instruction in which you will teach a course at CEFR- level C1.You can demonstrate this by means of a language certificate or a diploma obtained from an institution in which that language is the language of instruction. Since the English course must only be taught in the second semester, this language test can still be taken in the first semester of the ACJ 2024-2025. Immediate employability in Dutch-language education is however required.
