**Job description**
A DB2 Architect:
- Performs technical and administrative work in the development of standards, methods, techniques, policies, procedures, data analyses, data designs, database implementations, and data governance necessary for the productive integration, sharing, standardization, integrity, security, availability, consistency and usability of data throughout the City’s on-premises and cloud-based databases;
- Assists in the implementation, maintenance, operation, or overall management of and database-level integration between the on-premises and cloud-based databases;
- Installs and configures database software and related administration tools and utilities;
- Develops and implements production scripts for database maintenance tasks; tunes and optimizes SQL statements and database/system parameters;
- Develops and conducts training;
- Utilizes database tools to perform various types of database backups and recoveries;
- Ensures database security and compliance with SB1386 or data privacy acts;
- Researches current database issues and technologies;
- May supervise other technical employees in the performance of this work;
- Performs related duties.
**Profile Description**
- IBM DB2 extensive knowledge, at least 10 years work experience with DB2 is required
- Experience with DB2(10. 1+) or Oracle(10+) data warehousing development
- Extensive hands-on experience in architecting, configuring and implementing Data Warehouse solutions for a large group or organization
- Expertise in requirement gathering, customer engagement and project management
- Experience with multi-database environment development
- Experience with data warehousing design/development
- Experience with database programming
- Experience with ANSI standard database environment development (preferably DB2)
- Experience with metadata solution development
- Experience with advanced reporting and analytics
- Advanced ETL tool or solution development
- Experience with data warehouse architecture standards, process, and methodology, with good knowledge of data integration, data quality, multi-dimensional design and ETL tools.
- Experience with complex/advanced SQL query techniques, including but not limited to analytics and result partitioning
- Experience documenting and diagraming complex technology architecture/solutions into formal SDLC deliverables
- Experience in re-architecting existing systems to an enterprise ready solutions
- Hands-on experience with near/real-time data integration design
- Experience working with IT and business customers
- Fluent in either French, Dutch or English
