The successful candidate will lead a crucial phase of executive leadership transition while preparing to assume full CEO responsibilities. They will partner with the Chairman to gradually take on day-to-day management and progress into operational and strategic oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the existing leadership team and organizational structure, making strategic recommendations to optimize governance, enhance operational efficiency, and drive sustainable growth.
  • Ensure continuity and stability, positioning the company for its next phase of development and long-term success.
  • As head of the management team, establish and foster a motivating and performance-oriented company culture, strengthening effectiveness and efficiency in staffing, structure, and organization.
  • Translate strategic plans into an annual budget and operating plan, reporting directly to the Board (Nigeria/Europe).
  • Fulfill priorities determined by the Board in the context of the company's operational and strategic objectives, aiming to increase shareholder value.
  • Maintain excellent relations with external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, financial institutions, local authorities, and governmental bodies.
  • Establish a close collaboration and solid mutual trust with the Chairman and family members, aligning with the Board and the company's legacy, values, and objectives.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, the ideal candidate should have:

  • A proven senior executive leadership experience as a CEO or other top-level position in the Oil & Gas or related industries, with comprehensive expertise in upstream, midstream, and downstream operations.
  • Firsthand experience working as an expatriate in Africa or in other overseas, more inflationary economies.
  • The ability to think strategically and translate strategic plans into actionable and impactful operational plans.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, engaging and influencing senior executives, board members, and key stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership skills, guiding teams through transformational periods.
  • Proficiency in financial management, making informed, strategic recommendations and decisions.
  • A proven track record of delivering results in challenging environments.
  • Highly committed with strong business acumen, combining high ethical standards and personal integrity.
  • Passionate about a global work environment, willing and able to adapt to another culture.
  • Prepared to live and work in Nigeria (Abuja) with frequent travel in Africa and regular visits to the group offices in Europe.
