Make your mark for patientsWe’re looking for a Biophysical Mass Spectrometry Scientist who is analytical, collaborative, and solutions-oriented to join our Gene Therapy Analytical Sciences team based at our UCB campus located in Braine-l’Alleud, Wallonia, Belgium.About the roleIn this role, you’ll lead the development and implementation of mass spectrometry and other biophysical methods to support the CMC development of recombinant AAV-based gene therapy products – from early clinical phases to launch readiness.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, validate, and transfer mass spectrometry and other biophysical assays for gene therapy productsDocument protocols, procedures, and reports with high standards of data integrityManage laboratory activities and maintain a cutting-edge analytical environmentCollaborate cross-functionally with upstream/downstream/process/formulation teams, QC, vector biology, and external partnersAnalyze and present results in team and project meetingsEnsure compliance with GMP, GSP, HSE, and biosafety standardsQualificationsMaster’s degree or engineering diploma in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field3+ years of industry experience in biophysical method development and validationProven hands-on expertise in mass spectrometry and liquid chromatographyFamiliarity with Empower, Chromeleon, or Expressionist softwareExperience with mass photometry is a plusStrong experience in regulated lab environments (GLP/GMP), including documentation and HSE/Biosafety complianceKnowledge of ICH Q14, Q2(R2), and Analytical Quality by Design principlesExcellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsFluency in English (written and oral) is mandatoryAre you ready to ‘go beyond’ to create value and make your mark for patients?
