Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to join our team at a leading provider of insurance services in Belgium and the BeNeLux region. The CISO will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of the company's information security strategy, ensuring that our systems, data, and digital assets are protected from internal and external threats. This role requires expertise in regulatory compliance, risk management, and cybersecurity practices, particularly within the insurance industry. Key Responsibilities: Information Security Strategy : Develop and execute a comprehensive information security strategy aligned with the organization's business goals and regulatory requirements in Belgium and the EU. Risk Management : Identify, assess, and manage cybersecurity risks to the company's digital and physical assets. Lead risk assessments and mitigation strategies to reduce vulnerabilities and protect critical systems. Regulatory Compliance : Ensure compliance with applicable national and international cybersecurity regulations, including GDPR, NIS2 Directive, and industry-specific standards. Oversee data protection policies, protocols, and procedures. Incident Response & Recovery : Develop and maintain incident response and disaster recovery plans. Lead the response to security breaches and ensure the swift recovery of systems and data. Security Architecture & Policies : Define and enforce security policies, frameworks, and architecture standards. Implement advanced security technologies to safeguard sensitive insurance data and ensure secure customer transactions. Team Leadership : Build and lead a skilled information security team. Foster a security-first culture across the organization through training, awareness programs, and continuous improvement. Collaboration & Reporting : Work closely with executive leadership, legal, compliance, and IT teams to ensure seamless coordination on security initiatives. Regularly report on security posture, key performance indicators (KPIs), and major incidents to senior management. Vendor & Third-Party Risk Management : Manage third-party risk assessments, ensuring that all vendors, partners, and service providers meet the company's security requirements. Security Monitoring & Threat Intelligence : Oversee continuous monitoring of the company's networks and systems for potential security threats. Leverage threat intelligence and analytics to stay ahead of emerging cyber risks. Security Awareness & Training : Develop and implement security awareness training programs for employees across all levels of the organization to mitigate human error and insider threats. Qualifications: Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.G., CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent) are highly desirable. Experience : At least 15 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a minimum of 5 years as a CISO or in a senior leadership role. Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is strongly preferred. Proven track record in designing and implementing large-scale information security strategies, policies, and initiatives. Knowledge & Skills : In-depth understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management methodologies, and regulatory requirements (e.G., GDPR, NIS2, Solvency II). Familiarity with cloud security, endpoint security, and emerging technologies such as AI/ML in cybersecurity. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Fluency in English, with proficiency in Dutch and/or French being an advantage.
