WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
- The Advanced Analytics Group is a global team of data scientists, engineers and primary researchers. The Sr. Manager, Operations Research/Supply Chain works with Bain’s consulting teams in the Performance Improvement Practice to provide high quality results for our clients.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Understand evolving Supply Chain IT systems, data and tools landscape, and assess clients’ Supply Chain IT systems, data and tools to provide recommendations.
- Assess modeling needs based on client situation and recommend the best advanced analytics tools to support them.
- Manage large data projects including data requests and ETL in preparation for modelling and facilitate client integration.
- Develop Supply Chain analysis and modeling approaches alongside client/case team with understanding of key Supply Chain performance levers.
- Build and validate data, simulation and optimization models that diagnose supply chain problems, run scenarios and simulations, and identify best or optimal solutions.
- Own client relationships (e.g. frequent interactions with IT, co-lead client workshops).
- Identify performance improvement opportunities, and provide recommendations.
- Transfer knowledge and handover to clients.
- Codify learnings (e.g. data sources, analytics).
- Provide training, documentation and other assistance to Bain’s consulting staff to support and expand the use of supply chain tools.
ABOUT YOU
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in industrial engineering, operations research, or supply chain management. PhD is a plus.
- 7+ experience in Supply Chain analytics roles, e.g. network, planning, forecasting, inventory management, production scheduling, logistics, warehouse.
- Industrial or research experience in combinatorial optimization modeling (particularly mixed integer programming) and heuristic algorithm development, such as genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, etc.
- Solid with any optimization modeling languages/solvers, e.g. Gurobi, Xpress, Cplex, GAMS, AMPL, etc.
- Experience with simulation modeling is a strong plus, e.g. Anylogic, Simeo, Arena, AutoMod, etc.
- Basic computer programming capability (Python, R, C/C++,R, etc.)
- Knowledge of probabilistic vs deterministic methods and when to use each.
- Strong data ETL skills and familiarity with SQL. Extensive database and experience with Supply Chain management system data tables a plus (e.g. WMS, TMS, etc.)
- Strong abilities in problem definition and problem solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must.
- Ability to work well with all levels within Bain and at client.
- Must be able to discuss technical issues with a non-technical audience.
- Must thrive in a fast paced environment and be able to work independently.
- Travel required (30% expected).
