Legal Counsel

The Legal Counsel is a member of the Center of Expertise (CoE) Legal & Regulatory.

Under the supervision of COE Lead Legal Technical, Commercial Legal, Regulatory compliance & Real Estate the Legal Counsel provides legal support in relation to broad range of legal and contractual matters such as Procurement, Marketing, Technical Services, Real Estate, Supplier contracts, IP and New Business (M&A).

**Key Accountabilities**
- Review, drafting and negotiating of commercial contracts and reviewing marketing communication, and supplier contracts
- Review and drafting of internal policies and guidelines
- Managing IP related topics
- Preventing and handling of litigation
- Ensuring legal compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in close cooperation with the business
- Acting as a legal point of contact for these matters internally and externally towards law firms
- Advising on the implementation of new legislation
- Monitoring disputes and litigation with supplier / customers
- Contributing to the wider goals and/or activities of the CoE and/or the organization.

**Knowledge & Experience**

Education: Master in law

Knowledge & Experience:

- Around 7 years of relevant professional experience, of which (preferably) a few years in a reputable law firm, possibly combined with some first in-house experience.
- Keen interest in Telenet, as a company, on the one hand, and the technology sector and complex IT services, on the other hand, is favoured.
- Experience in giving legal support in a comparable environment - commercial contracts, marketing, supplier contracts - is preferable but not required.

Skills & Abilities:

- Fluent in Dutch and English. Good understanding of French.
- Both a team player (coordinate with others, share knowledge,) and able to work independently.
- Able to grasp and analyse a wide variety of (sometimes complex) questions and large quantities of information.
- Combines good technical legal knowledge with a keen commercial focus
- Good at translating the legal context in hands-on and pragmatic advice that is also easy to understand for people without legal background.
- Not afraid of thinking beyond the legal framework; able to take into account the external environment and anticipate important challenges/future events that may have consequences for Telenet.
- Hands-on and resilient; able to navigate in a large and agile organization and deal with continuous change.
- Open minded and flexible; able to interact with colleagues and stakeholders with different types of expertise, coming from various backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills and a real team player with a sense of humor
