Senior Technology Scout

At the R&D Center Europe Brussels Laboratory we are looking for a Senior Technology Scout.

You will identify and evaluate new and emerging technological trends in the blockchain related technology space, and research opportunities of the R&D team to deliver novel technology components that benefit Sony’s businesses and will advise the R&D team of interesting leads. In addition, you will create reports informing executives in Sony business units of the latest trends in the field.

The role can be filled with part-time scouting and part-time R&D Development Lead if you have the expereince and desire to manage and lead teams.

You will:
- Identify strategic business, investment, and technology opportunities in the web 3 and blockchain technology space relevant for Sony businesses and compile trend and technology reports in selected fields.-
- Gain a deep understanding of various relevant aspects of the crypto industry including technology, legal, regulatory, economic, and protocol background details- Analyze and create intellectual property.- Network with startups, corporations, venture capital communities, and universities.- Be window person to external standardization organizations

You will bring:
- Experience performing technology scouting, trend research, innovation, benchmarking in the field of either security, crypto or blockchain technology- Excellent networking skills, both internal and external.- Advanced creative, deductive and entrepreneurial thinking.- Strong eagerness to translate insights into opportunities.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.- Advanced ability to structure, illustrate and or communicate complex concepts in an understandable, practicable manner

Desirable experience:
- Bring an existing scouting network- Enjoy tinkering to create innovation- Advanced reporting and project management skills- Advanced engineering experience within research and development, as engineer or team lead

Your new office

R&D Center Europe Brussels Laboratory is located Zaventem near Brussels. It takes 45 minutes to reach by train from Brussels Midi (Eurostar / Thalys terminal) and 5 minutes by shuttle bus from Brussels Airport. The development group is international, and the working language is English.

Our office in Zaventem is designed to connect people with our newly installed bar, gym and breakout room to play darts or PS5. The office is next to the airport/train station (connected with a free shuttle), the bicycle highway to Brussels/Leuven (a true added value for employees that make use of the bicycle leasing program) and of course a parking space with electric chargers. Lunch can be enjoyed in the private restaurant on the ground floor or at the cafeteria area with a Nespresso.
