Eu Public Affairs Advisor

Rabobank's Public Affairs (PA) team represents the interests of its members, customers and the bank at a national, EU and international level. We are the connecting link between the bank, politicians and other stakeholders with the aim to achieving a balanced interest: good preconditions in policy, legislation and regulations within which Rabobank can achieve its mission of Growing a Better World Together. To this end, the PA team works closely with colleagues within the Communications and Corporate Affairs (CCA) department and It plays a crucial role in connecting Rabobank's overarching strategy with its reputation and business operation.

Within the Public Affairs department, Rabobank is looking for a skilled medior advisor to join Rabobank’s public affairs team in Brussels.

**You and your job**:
As part of the EU Affairs function, you will support our EU Affairs activities and ensure that the interests of the bank and our customers are taken into account in decision-making on EU laws and regulations, across all priority files that impact the bank incl. banking, F&A, and energy public policy topics. You will engage with EU policymakers, within the European Commission and the European Parliament, the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands at the EU and connect Rabobank to relevant trade organisations and opinion leaders in Brussels. You will work closely with the Head of EU Affairs and other colleagues in the Public Affairs team to develop and execute regulatory policy analysis and advocacy objectives for Rabobank. You will report to the Head of Public Affairs. The position will be based in Brussels.

**Responsibilities**:

- Monitoring policy developments, providing analysis, forward planning, internal forecasting and solutions to upcoming events, changes in legislation or political topics.
- Proactively identify public policy opportunities and barriers and resolve them.
- Prepare briefings and analyses on complex topics to a wide range of internal stakeholders, including the Management Board and senior management.
- Develop and execute advocacy strategies on proposed public policies with trade associations, policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders for Rabobank.
- Collaborate effectively with business leads and policy experts across the bank to formulate group positions and providing timely, high-value and structured intelligence.
- Representing Rabobank at external meeting with political, public affairs and industry stakeholders.

**You and your talent**:

- 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience in government, public policy, law, and/or a multinational and demonstrated experience with EU regulatory policy issues.
- Knowledge of current regulations and policies relevant to Rabobank, as well as the evolving industry and market environment relating to Rabobank’s core businesses.
- Excellent oral and written communication in English, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to articulate and communicate at all levels both internally within Rabobank and externally.
- Demonstrated analytical and independent problem-solving skills, sound judgment and strong collaborative decision-making skills.
- A team player with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
