Financial Analyst

Mendes Wood DM Brussels is looking for a Financial Analyst to join the team. The analyst will work on the day to day operations of the gallery working together with the local team, colleagues in Sao Paulo and New York and external partners.
Responsibilities include:
1. Responsible for the daily operation of accounts payable and accounts receivable within the deadlines (payments, receipts, collections, aging list, etc.) as well as the precise control of accounts payable to artists and partners.
2. Responsible for the analysis and control of all sales made, as well as the individual costs of each sale and weekly check, artwork by artwork, of the official sales spreadsheet, and feedback to suppliers/clients within the established schedule.
3. Responsible for stock control and reporting on the acquisition of works for stock and any other operations involving artworks, including partnerships with third parties.
4. Responsible for preparing and sending management information to the consultants, according to the established schedule, as well as serving as an interface between the consultants and the company's accounting firm and preparing special studies when requested.
5. Responsible for providing or uploading in systems all the information and documentation necessary for the accounting office, within the period necessary for the monthly closings to occur accurately and without delay, as well as charging the accounting company for the monthly reports within the period established in the contract.
6. Responsible for analyzing the monthly accounting financial statements in search of errors/omissions/opportunities.
7. Responsible for contacting the accounting office (with monthly calls and face-to-face meetings at least quarterly), banks, and public entities.
8. Development and implementation, together with consultancy, of procedures and policies necessary to improve controls and efficiencies.
9. Responsible for the preparation of the fairs and exhibitions planning worksheet together with the person responsible for the event.
10. Responsible for preparing the budget, together with the gallery manager and partners, as well as monthly monitoring of the budgeted X actual.
11. Responsible for continuous improvements in the financial processes and in the best use of all the functionalities of the existing systems (ArtLogic, Exact, Accounting firm system) and improvements in controls in Excel.
Required knowledge, skills & experience:
- Basic Accounting
- Financial skills (previous experience in managing key functions such as Accounts Payable and Receivable)
- Office package, with good Excel skills
- A positive, can-do attitude
- Ability to organize & prioritize tasks and communicate with a range of staff at all levels
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple, complex workstreams simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree
- Fluent English
