**(Postdoctoral) scientific staff member (M/F/x) valorisation & impact**

Do you have a talent for networking, presenting and creating societal impact? Do you want to contribute to the valorisation of pioneering research in big data policing? The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded a prestigious Consolidator Grant to Prof. dr. Wim Hardyns of the Department of Criminology, Criminal law and Social Law (Ghent University). For the ambitious BIGDATPOL project, we are looking for a talented scientific staff member to translate research into impact for policymakers, public and private partners and other stakeholders.

**About the BIGDATPOL project**

Big data policing uses advanced statistical methods to analyse, predict and prevent crime patterns. This project combines data science with social sciences to develop an evidence-based model that will be tested in several European cities. A unique opportunity to connect theory and practice and realise direct impact in society.

**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
- **Communication and networking skills**: Strong in establishing contacts and presenting to diverse audiences.
- **Language skills**: Excellent English (knowledge of Dutch is a plus).
- **Personal qualities**: Proactive attitude, team spirit, independence, eye for detail, flexibility and enthusiasm to build bridges between science and practice.

**WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU**
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of four months (in case of a positive evaluation after four months, your appointment will be extended by mutual agreement).
- Your contract will start on 1/02/2025 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
