Context

The bank is now looking to reinforce its Data Protection Office, which forms an integral part of the Legal Department, by recruiting an experienced Data Protection Lawyer.

Your Position

Your main responsibilities in this role will, amongst other, be:

- to be part of the Data Protection Office, currently comprised of 2 data privacy specialists who act groupwide for the Degroof Petercam in Belgium, Luxembourg and France, locally assisted by DPO representatives;
- to assist the Group in various digital projects to ensure compliance with GDPR and privacy legislation (including assessing privacy by design/default, contract reviews, etc.);
- to support the development of internal data protection policies and related guidelines and procedures;
- to assist in the maintenance of the processing register;
- to develop/maintain data privacy charters in line with business practices;
- to support and carry out Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Data Transfer Impact Assessments (DTIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs);
- to assist in providing internal trainings and pursuing an awareness program to the different stakeholders of the Group;
- to assist in monitoring compliance with the GDPR by conducting controls and support the reporting towards the Data Protection Officer and the Management;
- as and when necessary, liaise with external law firms and specialists in relation to privacy and GDPR matters;
- as an expert, monitor and stay well-informed of the legal/regulatory developments impacting your field of expertise and in particular in relation to the banking and finance sector; and
- provide day-to-day advice in all matters related to privacy and GDPR.

You will also, as member of Degroof Petercam’s legal department, work closely with other in-house lawyers and colleagues from the legal department and contribute to the development of activities of the legal department. You will report to the Data Protection Officer.

Your Profile
- Belgian Master degree in law (minimum);
- you have approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in the domain of data protection and have actively contributed to GDPR implementation projects;
- critical and analytical thinker, able to quickly understand business issues & requirements;
- an interest for IT and a good understanding of ICT Security;
- strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as outstanding negotiation skills;
- you are able to work autonomously or within a team, have excellent organizational skills, are process-orientated and have a well-structured working style
- creative and solution oriented;
- proficient in MS Office (word, powerpoint, Excel); and
- full command in French as well as fluent in Dutch and English.
