Our European Public Affairs office in Brussels plays a major role in this process. To reinforce our Brussels team we are actually looking for a Head of Chemicals Policy with the following responsibilities:
- Heading the topic of chemicals policy within the Public Affairs team at European level (EU as well as key Member States)- Development and implementation of strategy and roadmaps for specific action programs on essential chemical intermediates- Leading Covestro’s Public Affairs outreach as part of chemicals policy strategy implementation at EU and national level.- Functional role in major EU trade associations (pan-European)- Build and maintain external political network in alignment with relevant departments within Covestro- Identification and prioritization of most relevant political trends and translation into direct and indirect impact for the business.- Development of messaging and translation into relevant political content, in alignment with Communication and Covestro regulatory departments and business entities.

WHAT YOU OFFER- University degree in political and/or social sciences, chemistry or equivalent education- Sound experience in political, company, consultancy and/or association environment at European level- Profound knowledge on the way of working of the European Institutions and a comprehensive understanding of their decision-making process. Familiarity with political/institutional processes in other EU member states is an asset.- Ability to translate between political and industrial views and interests to find common ground.- Expertise of EU chemicals policy and regulatory processes is desirable.- Strong communication and networking skills- A proven track record of structuring and communicating complex technical and scientific issues in an effective manner.- Excellent interpersonal skills along with an inclusive and constructive approach in dealing with both external and internal stakeholders.- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is critical for this position. Fluency in German is a strong asset. Good working knowledge of French and/or Dutch are considered a plus.
