- The Faculty of Law and Criminology provides academic teaching and services based on innovative scientific research. The education within these programs is supported by the innovative scientific research performed within the 3 faculty departments encompassing all possible disciplines within the fields of law and criminological sciences. The Faculty is housed in the historic centre of Ghent.

**ABOUT THE PROGRAMME FOR STUDIES ON HUMAN RIGHTS IN CONTEXT**

- Human Rights in Context is embedded within the Faculty of Law and Criminology and the Human Rights Centre of Ghent University. The Programme was founded at the initiative of Prof Dr Yves Haeck and Prof Dr Clara Burbano-Herrera.
- Our research vision is to conduct studies on the promotion, advancement, and respect of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. We reflect on how international human rights bodies function, and how to inspire better interaction between domestic and international law within its wider social and political context. Main features of the research include a comprehensive approach to public law and the high value placed on comparative law. The research is grounded in theory, and is often based on extensive fieldwork.
- Our research goals reflect the Ghent University slogan _'Dare to Think'_, and we approach the research with a drive for lifelong learning. The research programme aspires to provide a critical space in academia for creating and sharing knowledge based on rigorous scientific research. **ABOUT THE IMPACTUM RESEARCH GROUP**

**ABOUT YOUR ROLE**
- Within the Programme for Studies on Human Rights in Context and the research team IMPACTUM, a 100% researcher assistant position is available for a period of 12 months.
- You will be part of an interdisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include supporting the Directors of the Programme for Studies on Human Rights in Context with coordination, academic, and administrative tasks.
- We are particularly seeking a team member with a background in law or another social or human science, who has knowledge an interest in human rights, experience with organisational and student-related tasks, strong analytical abilities, and sound administrative skills.

**Principal Responsibilities**
- To support the Directors in the organisation of academic and administrative activities related to the Programme; which may include internal workshops, public lectures, and international scientific conferences;
- To contribute to the editorial processes of the human rights journal affiliated with the Programme;
- To assist the Directors with collecting information from international human rights bodies
- To assist in the preparation of research output for the IMPACTUM project;
- To contribute actively to fostering a collegial, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating environment withing the research group.

**The role requires your physical presence at the Faculty of Law and Criminology, Ghent University. Remote working or teleworking is not permitted.**
