**Your Mission**

You will develop and implement the
**upstream research portfolio** related to the functionality of
**proteins in bakery, patisserie and chocolate products** in close collaboration with the research teams in the Business Units and the global R&D teams. We count on you to explore new sources and functionalities of proteins to increase nutritional value, taste and texture experience, in line with engagements on health & wellbeing and sustainability.

**What you will do**
- **You will be our leading expert on proteins**
- You will be a support for our R&D departments of the different Business Units to develop a differentiating pipeline in relation to functionality of proteins
- You will proactively translate findings into project proposals in line with health and wellbeing and sustainability strategy
- As an expert on proteins, you will educate on protein functionality, sustainability topics, regulatory updates and innovations
- **You will be responsible for the scientific research in cross-functional projects**
- In this you will maintain & grow our network of partners (associations, suppliers, customers, research institutes, start-ups, ) and take a responsible role in networks on protein-based technologies
- You will be present in and participate to external seminars and congresses
- **In all cases you will closely collaborate with the regulatory team** on aspects related to proteins
- **You will also align with purchase **to link the sourcing strategy of proteins to scientific insights and sustainability engagements

**What we expect from you**
- You have an academic background related to food science, food technology, food biotechnology or food biology with track record in protein research (Master with relevant experience, PhD, )
- You have an agility approach which results in efficient project management
- Important is that you are hands-on - eager and curious to try out new technologies in lab and pilot scale
- Team spirit
- Strong networking skills
- Impactful communication skills before an audience and able to bring complicated messages to layman, fluent in written and spoken English, Dutch/French is a plus
- You feel like a fish in the see to work in matrix organization and are able to create impact in a non-hierarchical setting
- Customer centric, with a good understanding of the market needs
