The Stantec Center of Expertise in Communications and Stakeholder Engagement provides a full spectrum of services, supporting climate and energy policy outreach. Our communication projects are focused on Sustainability, Clean Energy, Energy Transition, Climate Change, Nature and Biodiversity, and Circular Economy and aim at raising wider awareness and understanding of related European policies.
Stantec Belgium’s major client groups include European Union institutions, governments, international funding, and aid agencies.
We employ and partner with a diverse network of communication experts, Energy experts, Climate scientists, and environmental specialists. They help us bridge the gap between sectoral expertise and the need for efficient, impactful, and clear messages.
We are currently seeking to recruit a full-time
Social media officer (Level Career 5)
to join our international and dynamic Belgian unit to support our growth and ambition in Communications and Stakeholder Engagement services.
Job purpose
The Social media officer will work closely with our clients as Community Manager. The officer will focus on the community management of clients projects’ social media channels: Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, benefitting from many research, materials and pre-written social media posts produced by our experts.
The Social media officer will undertake community management ensuring multi-channel coherence to encourage participation of the programme‘s large community and foster engagement. The officer will implement and updating, as needed, the social media strategy, ensure weekly monitoring and reviews.
**Responsibilities**:
The community management task will consist of:
- Posting dedicated content produced by social media copywriters. Create updates when needed.
- Reposting content coming from social media users while paying special attention to content from project audiences and followers
- Monitoring and reporting activity on social media
Sub-activities may include, among others:
- \tSupport the client with the identification of core messages to communicate on the projects, perform target group monitoring analysis and identify key target audiences and stakeholders to engage with, etc. producing a weekly social media calendar of actions to reach key performance indicators.
- \tUpdate of objectives, key performance indicators and engagement objectives per channel (reach, engagement) for Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Generate creative ideas that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound, ensuring localisation towards audiences (geography, language, behaviours and expectations).
- \tGrow the community of projects at the national, regional, and international level
- \tWhen applicable, dissemination and promote community activities (news, events, podcasts, articles, videos).
Requested profile.
Applicants should as a minimum have the following qualifications and demonstrate the following skills:
- \tUniversity degree in a relevant discipline such as Journalism, Communication, Sustainability, Environment, or climate studies; Master’s degree is an advantage, or equivalent experience.
- \tAt least 5 years of relevant experience in managing social media channels, contributing to communication projects or projects with activities such as digital communication and social media tools, and production of visuals for social media engagement in a communication agency, a think-tank, a EU-funded project, an European association, a federation or a public institution.
- \tComprehensive knowledge of EU communication & information activities, GDPR and IPR requirements is an asset.
- \tExperience of working independently with various stakeholders, notably donors, public authorities, international companies, in a multi-cultural context.
- \tExperience in advisory services for appropriate social media community management approach.
- \tNative-level or equivalent English knowledge, knowledge of another EU language is an advantage.
- \tGood communication skills and demonstrated experience in facilitating dialogue and communication.
- \tGood understanding of the thematic fields of environment, circular economy, climate change, and clean energy transition.
- \tDemonstrated experience of management of social media channels.
