IT Specialist

**Duties**: - Conduct system scans using approved tools provided by the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of the Army. - Ensure that Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) and vulnerability assessments are generated and disseminated to appropriate personnel within the area of responsibility (AOR). - Review Tenant Security Plans (TSP)s, accreditation, and certification packages to ensure compliance with higher headquarters requirements. - Assist in the development of cyber related policy and procedures for implementation of guidance from higher level authority and provide advantages and disadvantages of different approaches. - Prepare and coordinate project authorization documents, operational benefit statement, cost comparisons of alternatives, status reports, requirements documentation, risk analyses and other technical documentation. - Ensure that all interconnected systems comply with the security requirements levied within the infrastructure and do not have a negative security impact on any other systems with which they must interact and support. **Requirements**: **Conditions of Employment**: - You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. - Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. - Two year trial/probationary period may be required. - Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19. - This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid official U.S. Passport - This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate Information Assurance certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, within 6 months of entry onto duty. - This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) for the duration of employment. - This position MAY be eligible for situational telework only, including emergency and OPM prescribed Unscheduled Telework. - See "Qualifications" section for additional requirements. **Qualifications**: **Who May Apply: US Citizens**Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC)**: **Specialized and Other Experience**:One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing and evaluating the security impact of system changes; developing local plans, policies, or practices necessary to provide guidance and assistance in all aspects of hardware and software security; and recommending corrective actions for system deficiencies or vulnerabilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). - The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: **(1) Attention to Detail -** Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
