ABOUT THE POST

The post will sit in the EuroHealthNet Research platform. This Platform identifies and promotes evidence-based approaches to improving health, equity and wellbeing, principally as part of pan-European research projects funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme. Many of these projects focus on environmental health, developing new understanding and evidence to help address the threats of climate change and environmental degradation in ways that promote health and reduce health inequalities. Two new projects focus more specifically on developing methods to assess the socioeconomic cost of environmental stressors such as air and noise pollution, and reducing climate-based health risks in blue environments.

In these projects, EuroHealthNet plays a leading role in communicating and disseminating research activities and outputs, as well as in translating research into policy, facilitating exchange among its Partnership and engaging with stakeholders. The Health & Climate Communications Officer will support these activities. More generally, the Officer will support the EuroHealthNet team effectively engage with debates and communicate about climate and health across different activities and policy areas, such as discussions on the Economy of Wellbeing.

The position provides opportunities for initiatives and work on specific tasks such as set out below, but also a wide-ranging imperative to contribute experience and knowledge to ensure credible, accurate and high-quality outputs across the EuroHealthNet work programme.
- Accountability_

The post is accountable to the Senior Project Coordinator and the Communications Coordinator. Besides the day-to-day tasks, the purpose of the role is also to enhance teamwork, and maximise the quality and impact of outputs towards concrete objectives.

SPECIFIC TASKS
- Supporting the EuroHealthNet research team in contributing to and communicating about EU research projects on environment, climate, health and equity.
- Developing a communication plan for a Horizon Europe project, liaising with web developers to design a website, maintaining the website, creating and updating social media accounts, developing materials such as newsletters, podcasts, videos, infographics, brochures, writing press releases and engaging with the media.
- Monitoring and engaging with EU & national policies on environment, climate & health, for instance helping to shape policy recommendations and policy briefs, as well as providing input into policy processes such as EU consultations and statements.
- Organising events such as policy roundtables, webinars, capacity-building workshops for policymakers, and project conferences.

And more generally contribute to:

- Supporting the Communications team to develop and promote content (videos, audio content, graphics, and infographics) to share information on climate & health in different and engaging ways, and find innovative ways to explain important information through story narratives, as this is an effective way of increasing understanding among the general public;
- Supporting EuroHealthNet work on climate & health as part of other activities (e.g., events, joint statements, participation in expert groups and strategic dialogues, etc.)

PROFILE

**Essential**
- You are educated to master level in a relevant field such as social sciences, humanities, environment or health related fields, **or **have a degree in communications with demonstrated understanding of public health, health equity, and health determinants and/or environmental health, climate change.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in communications, ideally with a health and/or environmental focus.
- Demonstrable knowledge of EU policy making processes and EU institutions, in particular regarding environment & health (e.g., European Green Deal, etc.)
- Previous experience working on EU-funded projects, specifically Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe, is desirable.
- Technical experience needed is:

- Developing and maintaining WordPress websites; Knowledge of HTML, CSS is an asset.
- Developing and maintaining social media accounts (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Maintaining and developing CRM Systems, preferably CiviCRM
- Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva
- Designing infographics, factsheets, brochures
- Writing news releases, articles, social media posts and other content (in English).
- Editing articles/policy briefs/newsletters and other publications. This requires strong language skills, as well as understanding of the topics we work on.
- You use English like a native speaker. Your writing skills will be tested during the interview.
- You are proficient in using Microsoft Office tools, including Teams and SharePoint.
- You can deliver high-quality results in a timely fashion and are comfortable working on your own as well as in teams.
