As Financial Markets Compliance Adviser, this is what you and your colleagues oversee at KBC Bank, KBC Insurance, CBC Banque and KBC Securities. **Want to know more about compliance at KBC?** In recent years, the role of compliance has become increasingly important as European regulations have become more complex and even stricter. And the regulator also conducts increasingly sophisticated checks. Compliance therefore has an **important dual role**: - advising business stakeholders, supporting business with training courses, raising awareness of compliance themes within the organisation; - checking whether the regulations are being properly respected. Within Group Compliance, different technical units are responsible for specific aspects of the regulations. - Our Financial Markets Unit focuses on protecting investors and policyholders and on preventing market abuse. - Colleagues in other technical units are responsible for privacy and consumer protection, corporate governance, fraud prevention, combating money laundering and financing terrorism as well as respecting embargoes. **What do we expect from you?**: - You will help ensure that KBC Bank and CBC Banque are **compliant with the regulations** concerning financial market activities and that our investment clients can be assured they have the proper protection. - You make **compliance recommendations,** for example for projects and ad hoc requests, and as part of the formal product approval process. - You are responsible for **interpreting and translating national and European regulations into clear internal rules,** which are made available for the whole KBC Group. You also analyse and report on the impact of changes to regulations concerning the financial markets. - You **collaborate intensively with the Monitoring Officers**, conducting audits to check that the regulations are correctly applied in practice, and together you draw conclusions from the results of these checks. - You take the necessary initiatives to **create and increase awareness in the organisation regarding the financial markets regulatory framewor**k, for example through training, e-learning and attending relevant meetings. - Each year, together with your Compliance Adviser colleagues and the Quality Control Team, you conduct a number of **audits on the implementation of elements of the regulations by Local Compliance** in the foreign entities. - As Compliance Adviser, you always put the interests of our clients first, including ensuring we are compliant with the regulations (MiFID II): - **recommending the correct investment products to clients,** taking their financial situation, knowledge and experience, and investment objectives into account; - **selling products under the correct terms and conditions**, providing appropriate information about the characteristics and risks of the financial instruments as well as the costs involved; - when providing investment services, paying due attention to potential conflicts of interest between KBC and its employees and a client, or between two or more clients. **Your key strengths?**: - You have a Master's degree, preferably in a **legal **and/or **economic discipline.**: - You have a thorough knowledge of the **relevant regulations **(MiFID and, in particular, changes related to ESG, SFDR, and financial services advertising regulations). - Topics such as investor protection, how the financial markets work and different types of financial instruments fascinate you. - You communicate fluently in writing and orally, not only in **Dutch**, also in **French **and **English**. - Youenjoy working **constructively** with colleagues from different departments and you do this while maintaining your objective point of view. - You cope well in **changing circumstances**, and are sufficiently pragmatic and flexible. - You are eager to learn, are creative and persistent. **What can we offer you?**: - You can count on considerable variety and many intellectual challenges.
