Senior SQL Server Database Architect / Tech Lead – Brussels (Centre)We are hiring for our client.Our client is looking for a highly experienced SQL Server Architect/Tech Lead with a strong engineering background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to guide a team on complex database topics. A Master's degree and strong technical English are required.Key Responsibilities (Summary)Provide senior technical guidance to System and Developer DBAs and act as the final Tier-3 escalation point.Lead the creation and evolution of technical governance frameworks (performance, security, standards).Contribute to cloud transformation, including Azure SQL DB, SQL Managed Instance, and MongoDB adoption.Support major strategic projects, including the migration of 1,000 databases from SQL 2019 to SQL 2025.Participate in building automation solutions (DevOps, PowerShell, Terraform).Design solutions (HLD/LLD) for capabilities such as HA/DR, backup, data refresh, and synchronization between OLTP and OLAP systems.Collaborate with architects to ensure alignment with internal standards and support handover to operations.Required ProfileSoft SkillsStrong communicator capable of simplifying complex concepts.Experienced technical leader with mentoring abilities.Structured, analytical, and effective in decision-making.Technical Skills7–10 years of SQL Server expertise in critical OLTP environments.Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and T-SQL.Hands-on experience with Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instance, and NoSQL (MongoDB).Performance troubleshooting and optimization at instance and OS level.Experience in solution design and writing technical standards.Nice to HaveLarge-scale SQL migration project experience.PowerShell, DevOps, and automation skills.Relevant certifications (Azure, SQL Server, ITIL, TOGAF).Experience with SSIS, monitoring tools (SQL Sentry, Redgate), and data modeling tools (Erwin).
