Senior Functional Tester For a strategic long-term assignment within the public sector, we are looking for an experienced Functional Tester. Key InformationStart date: Mid-February 2026Workload: Full-time (4/5 possible)On-site presence: 1–2 days per weekLanguages: Dutch & EnglishExperience required: Minimum 5 yearsAssignment ContextYou will work on multiple applications supporting:citizen guidance services,grant and premium applications,management of training offers.The environment is complex, multi-application and agile, requiring strong adaptability, prioritization skills and an assertive mindset.Your RoleAs a Functional Tester, you ensure high-quality software and an optimal user experience. You will collaborate closely with developers, architects and functional analysts.Your responsibilities:Build a strong understanding of the technical environment and functional requirementsDefine the test approach and create test plansDesign test scenarios and test casesAssess testability, risks and effort together with the agile teamPrepare test data and execute functional testsSupport and coordinate business acceptance testingBuild and maintain regression test suitesIdentify test cases suitable for automationDocument and report test results to stakeholdersRegister, track and follow up defects in issue-tracking toolsContribute proactively to continuous quality improvementProfile RequirementsMust-have skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills in DutchExperience with test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr, XRay, etc.)Solid knowledge of defect and incident managementCreation and maintenance of manual regression testsEthical handling of sensitive and personal dataAbility to create and manage test plans and specificationsCapability to assess testability of user stories and define required setupsExpected competenciesGood understanding of Agile methodologies and testing within Agile teamsExperience testing non-functional requirementsKnowledge of the testing pyramidAbility to write independent queries to select, validate or manipulate test dataNice-to-have skillsEnd-to-end (E2E) testing experienceBlack-box test design techniquesUX, mobile and accessibility testing (WCAG)API testing using tools such as Postman and SwaggerTest automation knowledge (Cucumber, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins)Basic knowledge of XML, XSD and JSONUI, API and service testing experienceCoordination of business acceptance testingAdvisory role on software quality improvement and "shift-left" practicesWhat You BringSeveral years of experience in software testingHands-on experience with test management and API testing toolsProactive, autonomous and team-oriented mindsetStrong communication skills and stakeholder management abilitiesAvailability: preferably 100%, 80% negotiableLooking for a stable, long-term assignment with real societal impact?Apply now or contact us for more information.
