About the Role

This freelance position places you at the heart of a product team responsible for building and supporting large-scale web applications in the Customer Services domain. You will architect, develop, and maintain reusable component libraries, ensuring consistency, scalability, and a seamless user experience across multiple teams. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain web applications within project, maintenance, and incident workstreams.
• Lead the technical implementation of front-end architectures for large-scale platforms, ensuring alignment with business and technical stakeholders.
• Architect, build, and expand reusable component libraries and design systems for use across multiple development teams.
• Translate complex functional requirements into scalable, maintainable, and high-performance technical solutions.
• Drive technical direction, advise on best practices, and support teams in overcoming complex development challenges.
• Implement and maintain automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using Vitest and Playwright.
• Champion software quality through code reviews, quality checks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Document analyses, architectural decisions, development guidelines, and technical solutions in a structured and accessible manner.
• Support and optimize CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions, YAML workflows, and automation techniques.
• Coach and mentor colleagues, facilitate knowledge transfer, and guide teams through technical challenges.
• Collaborate closely with product owners, analysts, architects, scrum masters, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and delivery.
• Participate in estimation, prioritization, and planning of development activities within an Agile team environment.
• Ensure compliance with development guidelines, architectural principles, security requirements, and internal IT standards.
• Monitor technical feasibility of new requests, identify risks and dependencies, and propose optimization opportunities.
• Investigate and introduce new technologies, methodologies, and AI-assisted tools to enhance software development efficiency.
• Support release management, ensuring controlled rollout of new functionality and adherence to change and quality management procedures.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Expert-level experience in Angular (version 2+), TypeScript, and modern front-end architecture.
• Extensive experience designing, managing, and expanding reusable component libraries and design systems.
• Proven expertise in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for web development.
• Strong background in .NET-based application development.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub for source control and collaboration, including GitHub Actions and CI/CD processes.
• Senior-level experience with Azure cloud platform and integration of supporting services such as CDN solutions.
• Proven experience with Playwright for test automation and Vitest for unit and component testing.
• Expertise in ORM technologies, specifically Entity Framework.
• Solid knowledge of SQL (MS SQL or Oracle) and relational databases.
• Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation.
• Familiarity with backend technologies: ASP.NET, MVC, C#, WCF, and Web API.
• Strong focus on software quality, test automation, and quality monitoring processes.
• Experience with code reviews, quality measurements, and adherence to architectural guidelines.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and guide teams through complex technical challenges.
• Proactive in adopting new technologies and AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to enhance productivity and maintain code quality.

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is required.

Other Requirements

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Familiarity with ITIL-based process management, specifically incident, change, and release processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering forward-looking solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, able to align complex technical matters with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and responsibility within complex enterprise environments.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to engage broadly, supporting the product beyond pure software development, including testing and release activities.

Project Details

• This is a freelance position based in Melle, Belgium.
• You will be engaged in a product team responsible for end-to-end value creation for our client’s customer-facing web applications.
• Project assignments are situated in the Customer Services domain, focusing on applications for end customers.
