About the role
We are looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect to turn an approved, federated Target Operating Model (TOM) into practical working processes within an international energy group. This mission requires a pragmatic architect who can drive implementation, strengthen architecture governance and align stakeholders across Group and local entities. You will translate strategy into a prioritised implementation backlog, launch suitable pilots and deliver visible results quickly. Your responsibilities
- Drive TOM implementation through clear priorities, milestones, dependencies, risks and decision points.
- Define and continuously improve architecture principles, standards, policies, reference architectures and reusable patterns.
- Clarify the mandates, responsibilities, decision rights, handovers and escalation paths of Group, local, domain, technical and solution architects.
- Establish and facilitate Group and local Architecture Review Boards (ARBs) , including participation, review scope, decision packs and decision recording.
- Implement Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) , delegated decision routing, compliance reviews, waiver and exception management, and urgent review procedures.
- Translate digital platform standards and guardrails into practical guidance for delivery teams.
- Embed architecture into portfolio and funding decisions, demand intake, project and product delivery, application lifecycle management, security, data, integration and vendor selection.
- Adapt architecture involvement to complexity, criticality, risk and cross-entity impact.
- Establish a minimum set of architecture deliverables with clear ownership, approval, versioning and lifecycle rules.
- Align senior management, business, product, engineering, security, data, infrastructure and delivery stakeholders around shared priorities.
- Coach architects, build an architecture community and transfer knowledge to internal teams.
- Define focused KPIs to measure adoption, decision effectiveness, reuse, compliance, risk and stakeholder value.
- Follow through on agreed decisions and actions to ensure successful implementation.
Your profile
- At least 10 years of experience in Enterprise Architecture .
- Proven experience in federated, multi-entity or similarly complex architecture governance environments .
- Experience facilitating architecture review boards and preparing clear, traceable decision packs.
- Hands-on experience implementing decision rights, ADRs, waivers, compliance reviews and architecture service models.
- Strong knowledge of IT processes and approaches such as ITIL, TOGAF, ArchiMate and Domain-Driven Design .
- Ability to combine strategic thinking with practical execution and measurable results.
- Strong facilitation, stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust, create shared ownership and guide stakeholders through difficult trade-offs.
- Comfortable working autonomously, bringing structure to ambiguity and maintaining implementation momentum.
- Available to start immediately.
- Fluent English for documentation and meetings. Nice to have
- Experience in the Energy & Utilities sector .
- Hands-on experience designing and delivering IT solutions in an Agile environment.
- Knowledge of French, Dutch or German. Practical information The role is based in Brussels, with approximately two office days per week on average and occasional travel to Berlin. Travel costs to Germany are covered. Non-EU candidates must hold a valid Belgian work permit and residence permit.
