Over the last 3 years we have achieved a 45% YoY profitable growth, building a leading market position in Europe. As we enter our next growth phase, we are seeking a data-driven Auctions & Pricing Manager to optimize our core engine: the balance between vehicle acquisition costs, auction pricing, and final sale realization. The Role As Auctions & Pricing Manager , you are the guardian of our margins. You will own the end-to-end pricing strategy for our inventory, ensuring each vehicle generates optimal returns while maintaining high liquidity. You will use data analytics, market intelligence, and behavioral economics to set dynamic reserve prices, starting bids, and "Buy Now" thresholds. You will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and work closely with the Head of Business Development.
Key Responsibilities
- Protect Gross Margin per Unit : Optimize reserve prices, starting bids, and Buy Now thresholds to grow margin per vehicle without compromising sell-through rate or time-to-sale.
- Increase Bidding Activity: Develop and execute strategies to increase the number of bids in auctions, driving engagement and competition.
- Improve Sales Conversion Rates: Analyze sales data and implement methods to enhance conversion rates across auctions.
- Reduce Cancellation Rate: Monitor and optimize auction processes to minimize cancellations and ensure smooth transactions. Key Activities Auction Management
- Set up and publish auctions across our vehicle segments
- Select suitable auction formats (Open, Tender, Fixed) for optimal outcomes per vehicle segment
- Manage and monitor bid transmissions and address issues by liaising with clients and suppliers Pricing Strategy & Execution
- Own pricing management: speed, types, visibility, and pricing algorithms
- Monitor live auctions to adjust pricing strategies in real-time (e.g., extending auctions, adjusting reserves) to maximize final hammer prices
- Build and refine the pricing rules and playbooks that let our approach scale beyond manual intervention Data Analytics & Reporting
- Analyze post-auction data to identify trends, pricing errors, and opportunities for improvement
- Conduct regular competition benchmarking on pricing, services, and user experience to maintain a competitive edge
- Monitor regional demand shifts, and macroeconomic factors affecting the used car market
- Forecast demand for specific segments (e.g., EVs, SUVs) to guide acquisition targets
- Produce weekly/monthly reports on auctions performances for the CCO and stakeholders Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provide feedback to purchasing teams to guide sourcing
- Provide feedback to enhance product features and usability
- Work closely with data science team for insights and optimization in pricing and auction management
Your Profile
- 3-5 years of experience in auction management and/or pricing, preferably in automotive or e-commerce industry
- Strong analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to pricing and conversion improvement
- Comfortable with SQL or BI tools (PowerBI/Tableau) and expert in Excel
- Solid understanding of vehicle valuation and used car market dynamics
- Ability to make high-stakes pricing decisions quickly under pressure
- Able to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Nice to Have
- Deep expertise in used car market dynamics across several European markets
- Established network within automotive or related industries
- Knowledge of additional European languages (Dutch and/or French preferred)
