We are actively seeking an experienced IT ERP Solution Expert with specialized expertise in FI/CO/TAX to join our UCB team. The successful candidate will spearhead the evolution of our global ERP systems from our headquarters in Braine-L'alleud, Belgium.

 

About the role:

 

The IT ERP team is responsible for the ERP systems globally. The ERP systems are used company-wide by over 5.000 employees, and represent the transactional backbone. In case of standstill/critical incident, the impact of UCB key business processes such as manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, finance, and procurement would be very high.

The IT ERP team defines the ERP strategy to be applied at UCB in terms of technology based on future needs, delivery of services and projects to fulfill business and IT requirements, and resources.

Some functional aspects of the job fall under GxP regulations (e.g. Manufacturing), while others need to follow financial rules and guidelines (e.g. Finance & Purchasing).

The SAP systems are regularly subjected to audits and inspections, whether internal or external. External audits can be requested by official agencies and focused on a drug, or by UCB to be allowed to publish its annual financial results. Negative audit/inspection findings could result in a production stop, a drug being pulled from the market, or UCB being prevented from publishing its financial results.

The IT ERP team is supported by technical experts in charge of providing transverse services to the vertical IT Functional Domains (i.e. IT Finance & Purchasing, IT Global Supply Chain, and IT Manufacturing & Labs).

The solutions enable business stakeholders to function and execute efficiently harmonized ERP processes, create and use data in a secure and compliant manner in the integrated and transversal UCB business units.

The scope of the IT ERP Solution Expert FI/CO/TAX is to create strong business relationships and partner with key stakeholders in Finance/Controlling/Tax, supporting the definition of the digital roadmap, enabling the Finance/Controlling/Tax strategy and priorities, and ensuring efficient operation of our applications. All these responsibilities converge towards a single objective: improving the lives of our patients.

One of our main goals is to achieve operational efficiency through the design of global IT solutions. Another main objective is to ensure that the local / country requirements are implemented on time to ensure that UCB is fully compliant with the legal requirements coming from the authorities.

 

What youâll do

• Responsible for providing Finance/Controlling/Tax expertise
  • Lead FI/CO/TAX processes and functionalities, acting as undisputable SPOC and ERP expert for their area.
  • Investigate and identify the needs of the business and the integration of envisaged global authorizations in the existing IT system landscape and estimate project feasibility, taking into account latest ERP developments and UCB specifics.
  • Act as an advisor to IT leadership on matters related to FI/CO/TAX.
  • Review ERP system FI/CO/TAX plans and ERP FI/CO/TAX service documents.
  • Guide and ensure FI/CO/TAX automation in a financially efficient and good practice secure manner.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of overall FI/CO/TAX and related practices in terms of architecture.
  • Actively investigate opportunities to simplify existing processes, to implement new functionalities, or to reduce functional redundancies leading to cost efficient and effective usage of UCBâs IT systems.
  • Adhere to a self-training attitude in order to bring up to date their technical knowledge, ensuring that the solutions proposed/delivered are innovative and rely on the most up-to-date technologies.
  • Keep abreast with ERP latest technologies and developments, and share internally.
• Responsible for ensuring RUN activities (i.e. services as per agreed volumes, unit costs, and OLAs)
  • Ensure FI/CO/TAX training for assigned personnel.
  • Ensure that monitoring tools/functionalities for FI/CO/TAX are considered in solution designs and are actively used as a basis to monitor and improve effectiveness of the implemented processes.
• Responsible for leading the Finance/Controlling/Tax support team
  • Collaborate and guide the RUN organization regarding defined standards and UCB processes and procedures.
• Responsible for delivering functional projects related to Finance/Controlling/Tax (e.g. project feasibility, solutioning, planning, realization, testing, implementation, communication, and hypercare)
  • Collaborate and guide project teams regarding defined standards and UCB processes and procedures.
  • Provide support to the functional teams in order to identify/investigate the needs of the business from FI/CO/TAX perspective, and the integration of envisaged other applications in the existing IT architecture.
  • Steer the technical aspects of various projects in the different entities of UCB making recommendations and ensure end users to fully use ERP systems on a 24/7 basis.
  • Review, challenge, and approve proposed FI/CO/TAX changes to the system by project teams or the RUN organization based on a holistic approach and beneficial business cases.
• Responsible for supporting technical projects
  • Estimate project feasibility in addition to being responsible for FI/CO/TAX specifications within the architecture phase.
  • Provide technical and functional expertise combined with UCB process knowledge.
• Responsible for acting as SME during external and internal audits/inspections for requests on the topic of Finance/Controlling/Tax
  • Act as a main SME in external and internal audits/inspections for FI/CO/TAX.
• Responsible for defining, maintaining, and evolving the Finance/Controlling/Tax concepts across the full ERP system landscape
  • Design the FI/CO/TAX concepts across the system landscape.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive FI/CO/TAX standard operating procedures (SOPs) outlining the FI/CO/TAX policies/guidance for running activities and processes.
• Responsible for proposing future evolutions in terms of Finance/Controlling/Tax topics
  • Keep abreast with SAP latest technology and development, and share internally.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the overall IT strategy approved by ITLT, taking into account latest developments either in their field and support continuous improvements.
  • Act as a technical SME in FI/CO/TAX.
  • Consider and seize opportunities for continuous improvement, ensure suitable solutions for new technologies, robotization and artificial intelligence to increase/reach high utilization of ERP.
