Business Analyst (AI / Predictive Maintenance) – FreelanceWe are seeking a Business Analyst to join a customer in the rail freight and logistics sector for a freelance mission. The consultant will support an AI initiative focused on predictive maintenance and asset management across locomotives and wagons.The client is launching an AI-based predictive maintenance programme aimed at reducing downtime, improving maintenance planning, and improving operational performance. The Business Analyst will act as the interface between maintenance operations, data science teams, and IT, ensuring business needs are translated into AI solutions.The role involves gathering and validating business requirements, performing functional and data analysis, and working with data scientists, engineers, and operational stakeholders. Initiatives include defining AI use cases, defining data requirements, designing user journeys for AI insights, and supporting rollout and value validation.ResponsibilitiesGather, analyse, and document business requirements for AI-based predictive maintenance use casesTranslate operational needs into functional and data requirements for AI/ML solutionsWork with maintenance, operations, data science, and IT teams in an agile environmentDefine metrics and KPIs to measure AI business valueContribute to AI governance, explainability, and user trust topicsProfile5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in industrial, logistics, transport, or asset-based environmentsEnglish-speaking; knowledge of French or Dutch is an asset
