Brussels Airlines Announces 2025 Appointment for Chief Operating Officer

Overview Brussels Airlines announces the appointment of Filip Aerts as Chief Operating Officer and member of the Management Board. He will join on August 1, 2025, replacing Tilman Reinshagen, who will leave the Lufthansa Group to pursue other opportunities. Aerts currently serves as Head of Flight Operations at Brussels Airlines and began his career as a pilot. Responsibilities Lead and oversee airline operations in support of Brussels Airlines’ strategy and performance goals. Ensure stability and punctuality of operations through effective leadership of flight operations and related functions. Collaborate with Management Board colleagues to drive operational excellence and safety across the organization. Qualifications / Background Extensive airline operations experience, including roles from First Officer to Head of Flight Operations. Active pilot licence; committed to maintaining proficiency in the new role. Experience within the Lufthansa Group structure and in cross-functional leadership teams.
