Your skills and experience:

  • Enrolled student in Networking / IT, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, preferably in a Masters program
  • Interest in IP/Mobile Networks
  • Exposure to any of the programming languages: Python, c/c++, RUST, TCL, HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, Jquery. Exposure and experience with linux is a plus.
  • Autonomous, proactivity and the innovative attitude

Possibilities in ION-Routing R&D:

LAB as a Data center + CUPs Infra:
With the Antwerp TPSDA team we are developing a CUPS controller. For the R&D team we have about 100 simulated testbeds on multiple sites. All these testbeds are managed via puppet and Ansible.


These testbeds simulates multiple user-plane and multiple control-plane platforms, these platforms are all simulated via a list of vm's that are automatically deployed during the bootstrap process of the test run.

In the coming years the control-plane platform will move to a cloud native, container based solution. As a result our infrastructure needs to evolve.

The proposal for this project is to investigate and implement the container based control-plane deployment on our testbeds with kubernetes as the orchestration platform to host/emulate our cloud based centralized BNG control plane.

Debug, report and fix failing ION-Router regression failures:

  • We rely on automated tests written in TCL and Python. We have about of them which run 24x7. It would be your job to analyze, debug the failures and fix the failures.
  • You learn and grow in areas such as
  • IP Networking, automation environment, scripting languages, debugging, software release strategy and software testing.

We develop and test software features to run on our networking platforms - you will be involved in System Test (end to end network integration testing):

  • System test tries to simulate/build an environment that tries mimic/replicate a real customer network(s) and use cases/deployment scenarios.
