About Agile at Elia Group

We have a rapidly growing team of agile experts in both Brussels and Berlin (the Agile Chapter). They support the organization as agile coaches and/or Scrum Masters within the teams to promote more collaboration, trust, cohesion, meaning, and continuous learning. With this Agile Chapter, Elia Group is becoming a learning organization where flexible work methods and values are widespread. People and the planet are at the forefront of all our decisions. The Agile Chapter serves as a Center of Excellence, a trusted advisor supporting, guiding, and coaching the organization on this journey.

We are looking for a Sub-Chapter Lead who can attract, develop, and retain agile talents to support Elia Group in a coherent and transparent manner. We expect a Sub-Chapter Lead to support the Chapters in achieving greater agile maturity for Elia Group.

About the Role

As a Sub-Chapter Lead, you are also the direct leader of a team with internal and/or external members. You report directly to the Agile Chapter Lead. As a Sub-Chapter Lead, you will:

  • Align and execute the objectives of the Sub-Chapter in line with the vision and strategy of the Chapter.
  • Collaborate closely as a sparring partner with the Chapter Lead and various stakeholders within the organization (including product or project teams) and external partners to manage the demand and capacity of the Sub-Chapter.
  • Hire and develop members of the Sub-Chapter. You will also develop career paths and ensure the development of their skills and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Ensure that best practice tools and methodologies are shared and standardized throughout the Chapter by facilitating knowledge sharing, learning, and continuous improvement in functional areas of the Sub-Chapter, work methods, talent management, demand management, etc.
  • Implement change initiatives that impact the functional areas of the Sub-Chapter.
  • Actively participate in the promotion and dissemination of the Chapter's story through various communication channels to all key stakeholders.
  • Collect, monitor, and report on the value proposition KPIs of the Sub-Chapters.

As an Agile Sub-Chapter Lead, you will:

  • Help Chapter members transform Elia Group into a learning organization.
  • Ensure that we recruit Sub-Chapter members with the right mindset.
  • Half of your time will be spent on the Chapter (supporting your Sub-Chapter members, working as a Chapter member, and working together on common Chapter goals).
  • The other half of your time is for your role as an agile coach (see below).
  • Resolve priority conflicts with stakeholders due to the availability of resources.
  • Bridge gaps in convergence between different clusters.
  • Lead by example and influence key leaders of Elia Group.

Your Profile

  • You live by agile values and principles.
  • You are an agile coach (or aspire to become one) and lead others.
  • You are a good listener.
  • You have strong skills in coaching, mentoring, training, counseling, and facilitation, and you know when to adopt which attitude.
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant leadership experience with demonstrated success, such as developing a vision, managing a budget, and forming a team from a group of individuals.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy bringing out the best in others, making them feel valued, and helping them grow.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience implementing agile techniques and frameworks in various work cultures and environments.
  • Knowledge and experience in the energy and/or utilities sector are a plus but not required.
  • You speak fluent English; additional language skills in Dutch, German, or French are a plus.
  • You are willing to work on-site 2-3 days a week and occasionally travel to Brussels/Berlin (on a quarterly basis).
