Position description

Responsibilities:

  • Managing Major/Complex Loss claims handling enquiry; coverage determination, quantum analysis and legal liability assessment, where appropriate.
  • Ensuring effective vendor and litigation management on large claims within a personal allocation.
  • Reporting key claims messages to senior claims, underwriting and actuarial management.
  • Broader internal / external stakeholder communication where required, as casualty technical claims expert
  • Delivery of technical training to colleagues and external contacts as appropriate
  • Assist in continuous improvement across the region through support for the Quality Assurance / Regional Audit processes
  • Timely, accurate and customer focused claim resolution, minimising indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense
  • Adhering to compliance and claims guidelines and playing an exemplary role towards other team members.
  • Ensuring adherence to best practice procedures for casualty complex claims, consistent with global best practice.
Skills Required- Experience with handling and settling casualty claims, including engaging, monitoring, and managing expertise/lawyers and adjusting/taking control where necessary is a plus- Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal

  • Language skills:

fluent in Dutch, French and English.- Time management - ability to manage & prioritise workload and diary management.- Ability to deliver technical training to claims handling teams.

- Ability to influence claims stakeholders to effectively direct claims strategy- Experienced in stakeholder management, both internal (underwriting, distribution, actuarial, finance and executive management) and external (brokers, major account clients)- Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation- Knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements- Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment
