Eurochild is an international non-governmental organisation based in Brussels, which promotes the well-being and rights of children and young people at the European level and, through its membership, in the European countries.

We are supported financially by the European Commission.

In the 18 years since its establishment, Eurochild has grown into one of the most influential networks on children's rights in Europe.

It has almost 200 members across 37 countries in Europe, including national coalitions of children's rights ('national partner networks') in 23 countries.


About this position


This position is responsible for logístical and administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the Eurochild Secretariat and network, in particular in relation to events, office management, general administration & operations.

He/she will be part of the Secretariat team, working horizontally with all team members, and in close collaboration with the Director of Finance and Interim Administration and the Governance and Membership Officer.

The position is well suited for someone who is highly organised, practical and motivated to play a supportive role in a dynamic, purpose-driven, international team.


The specific responsibilities of the Events and Office Officer will include & relate to:

  • Responsible for organisation of Eurochild events_
  • Logistical coordination of inperson, hybrid & larger scale online events, including overseeing practical organisation, registrations, related partnerships & the allocated events budget
  • Research catering and accommodation options for inperson Eurochild meetings and events; make the necessary bookings; communicate and manage relationships with Eurochild's suppliers
  • Support on administrative & logístical aspects of children's participation in Eurochild's events
  • Followup of meetings and events, including related administration and communication
  • Development, professionalisation & implementation of events management practices, administration & tools, including building related capacity of the secretariat, as well as update and development of Eurochild's events database
  • Responsible for logístical coordination of general assemblies and other flagship events
  • Support in building and preparing events programmes, as required by the leading team members
  • Responsible for office management & supports general administration_
  • Responsible for office management & supports cultivating a positive (hybrid) office culture, including development of guides for the secretariat; maintaining relationships with the building management & service providers; maintaining & developing databases
  • Undertake other administrative or logístical tasks as support to senior members of the team, including for example scheduling, maintaining records, taking minutes at meetings, or preparing documents
  • Supports or coordinates on use and maintenance of internal processes and common work practices of the Secretariat including the shared server and online tools and trains team members on the above

Support and supervision


The Events and Office Officer will report to and be line managed by the Director of Finance and Interim Administration.


  • 13 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Ability to provide 2 professional references, if selected
  • Keen interest in event organisation and general administration or secretarial tasks
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, ability to multitask, and high attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and a willingness to learn to use and help us update and improve Eurochild's various online tools and databases
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in written & spoken English and French, other EU languages are an asset
  • Experience of working with or for nongovernmental organisations or membershipbased networks
  • Experience in an international, multicultural environment
