The energy transition and the integration of intermittent renewable production require the development of flexibility in the system. This will safeguard the balance between generation and offtake in the grid and also ensure that the grid is not overloaded. This flexibility needs to be developed at every voltage level and will increasingly also be provided by decentralized, flexible E-assets like electric vehicles and heat pumps.
As Head of KAM Energy, you will play a key role in the development of this flexibility in the market and also in the management of the system services that Elia contracts to be able to operate the electricity system safely.
- You will be the contact point for market parties in respect of flexibility and system services and assist them with their needs and questions. You will discuss these needs with other departments with a view to the development and implementation of customer-oriented services and solutions that facilitate the development of flexibility. You will help the various market parties develop and valorise flexibility, canvas new suppliers of flexibility and contribute to the development of new concepts and mechanisms.
- Your main Key Accounts will be the various parties active in the electricity markets, such as balance responsible parties (BRPs), flexibility service providers (FSPs), energy service providers (ESPs), Scheduling Agents (SAs) and Outage Planning Agents (OPAs).
- You will share responsibility with the Head of Customers and the other members of the core team for key account management, you will digitalise interactions with key accounts and identify the optimal communication strategy towards these market parties. You will continually strive to achieve maximum customer satisfaction and build a sustainable and solid relationship with the key accounts.
- As a people manager, you will be responsible for a team of four KAMs. You will also manage your own portfolio of key accounts.
Your most important activities will be:
to help market parties develop flexibility and system services:
- You will work with your team to analyse the questions and needs of the various market parties in respect of the development of flexibility and system services. You will work in close collaboration with other departments and the market parties to develop customer-oriented roadmaps and a vision, focusing on facilitating the development of flexibility and system services. You will lower the barriers for participation in these services.
- You will be responsible for project follow-up with market parties. Naturally, you will ensure that you are always up-to-date on the projects and needs of the market parties, the evolution of flexibility services and the regulatory framework (and its potential impact and opportunities for the various market parties, etc.).
to manage questions and complaints:
You will be Elia's contact point for all your key accounts. You will answer their questions and provide customer-oriented solutions. You will maintain an overall view of interactions with market parties. You will take the actions necessary to provide your key accounts with suitable answers to questions or complaints as soon as possible (advice, information and action, etc.).
to enter into contracts:
You will provide feedback when preparing contracts about flexibility and system services (balancing services, congestion, outage planning and scheduling, etc.). You will strive to ensure that contracts are customer-friendly and clear. You will be responsible for entering into contracts with market parties and then monitoring these contracts.
to manage customer data:
- You will work with your team to ensure that the data of your key accounts and the contractual data required are complete and correct. You will enter the information into the respective systems and transfer it to the respective services.
- You will be a driving force in the further digitalisation of interactions with market parties.
to represent Elia externally and communicate externally:
You will introduce the market to Elia and our products and services. You will identify a communication strategy that enables Elia to reach the various (potential) suppliers of flexibility and canvas their feedback. You will represent Elia's interests when doing this.
to play a transversal role at Elia:
Based on your contacts, you will represent the market parties in the various projects and product teams for energy and grid solutions (balancing services, congestion services and new services like multiple BRPs, etc.).

Your Profile- You are an industrial, civil or commercial engineer.
- You have ten years' experience, of which at least five years in the Belgian energy sector. Because of this, you are very familiar with how the electricity and flexibility markets work.
- You preferably already have people management experience, but this could also be your first experience of people management.
- You are bilingual in French and Dutch and have an excellent knowledge of English.
- You have experience in key account management in a complex environment enabling you to excel in customer orientation
- You think proactively, in terms of solutions, and enjoy the challenge of a transversal role that involves working with a wide range of different parties.
- You perform your responsibilities autonomously.
- You prioritise correctly and aren't afraid to make decisions on this basis.
