Freelance Opportunity – Head of Network (Brussels) On-site: 1 day/week | Remote: 4 days/week Start: ASAP | Duration: Long-term mission Location: Brussels We are supporting one of our most prestigious clients in their search for an experienced Head of Network to take ownership of their network strategy, governance, and operations across a complex, enterprise-level environment. Role Overview As the Head of Network, you will lead the design, evolution, and oversight of the organisation's network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring performance, security, scalability, and future-proof architecture while guiding both internal teams and external providers. This role blends strategic leadership with high-level technical expertise. You will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders and play a key role in steering the network roadmap for the coming years. Key Responsibilities Define and implement the network strategy, standards, and roadmaps Oversee network operations, performance, and security across multiple sites Manage and coordinate external service providers Drive continuous improvement, automation, and modernisation initiatives Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity frameworks Provide leadership and technical guidance to network teams Report to senior management on KPIs, risks, and future requirements Required Skills & Experience 10+ years of experience in network engineering, architecture, or infrastructure management Strong leadership background and experience managing teams or vendors Proven expertise with enterprise networking: routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, SD-WAN, LAN/WAN Solid understanding of network security principles Experience working in large or complex organisations Fluent in English; French or Dutch is a plus Based in Belgium or able to be on-site in Brussels one day per week What We Offer A high-visibility role within an internationally recognised organisation Long-term engagement on a freelance basis Flexible schedule: 1 day/week on-site, 4 days remote 900-1000 euros a day Opportunity to shape and influence a major network transformation
