Function
Elia plans to extend its offshore high voltage grid to contribute to Europe and Belgium’s Energy Transition towards a zero carbon future. Elia has several projects in the pipeline such as the Modular Offshore Grid 2 and Princess Elisabeth Island, the Nautilus (to the UK) and Triton Link (to Denmark) interconnectors. These projects foresee several cable scopes:
6 x 220kV AC export cable systems of ~50 km each between the Belgium coast and the Princess Elisabeth Island
An HVDC cable system of ~50 km each between the Belgium coast and the Princess Elisabeth Island
An HVDC cable system of more than 100 km for Nautilus
An HVDC cable system of more than 700 km for Triton Link
As part of the project team,
You are a safety leader and continuously looking for safety improvements
You ensure the timely delivery of work packages and high quality of deliverable
You seek out design opportunities to create additional benefits to the project
You report pro-actively and regularly regarding status and progress of your activities
You can independently manage and implement specific work packages and engage with relevant contractors, suppliers and internal experts where required.
As Project Leader Offshore Cable,
You are part of the Cable Team and report to the Cable Package Manager.
You coordinate and manage engineers and experts.
You work in a multi-disciplinary team and coordinate and cooperate with, amongst others, Package Managers, Project Manager, Experts, Procurement Officers, HSE advisors, PMO officers etc.
You are responsible for delivering elements of the Offshore Cable scope of the projects with activities such as:
Development of key concepts in cable design, installation and repair.
Development of the tender package with a focus on the project’s technical requirements.
Review and evaluation of bids and technical support during negotiations.
Follow-up of contractors’ design and manufacturing activities.
Act as first point of contact throughout project execution and act as the company’s representative on site.
Control and assure quality and safety during on-site activities.
Ensure the implementation of prevailing contractual requirements.
You can manage interfaces and coordinate different inputs from other disciplines
You ensure adequate follow-up of external parties
Your Profile
You have a Masters in Engineering
You have at least 5 years of working experience in the offshore infrastructure sector, preferably with large infrastructure projects (budget +50 mil €)
You have relevant experience related to the installation of subsea cables, dredging and/or other cable installation techniques as well installation tools and vessels.
You have excellent oral and written communication skills
You are a team player
You are organised and results-oriented
You can work under pressure
You are proactive and a problem-solver
You can prioritise and act accordingly
You can work in an international project environment
You enjoy technical challenges and are a quick learner
You have entrepreneurial skills and are not deterred by challenges
You have excellent MS Office skills
Fluent in English, Dutch and French are a plus
Location
Main office is in at Quai Léon Monnoyer 3, 1000 Brussels with site visits to the Belgian North Sea coast before and during project execution
Occasional international travel to contractors, vendors etc.
