Based in Gosselies, the mission of Catalent Cell and Gene Therapy is to deliver optimized process industrialization capacities to cell therapy organizations, and speed up the arrival of their therapies onto the market. The Plasmids Process Development & Research Department is responsible for developing manufacturing processes of gene therapy products. The Department is also assisting in the technology transfer of these processes and methods into cGMP Manufacturing.
The **Associate Scientist III** **will serve as a lead for technical advice and will perform multiple, complex projects to contribute to the development of pre-clinical to commercial manufacturing processes for Gene Therapy. This position will work in a team of scientists/associates responsible for process and or analytical development. The position has developed deep knowledge in relevant technology, will design new approaches and potentially provides directions for improvement of processes and or analytical methods. The position demonstrates strong oral and written communication and presentation skills with a critical spirit and comprehensive oversight.
**The Role**
- Develops and optimizes robust and future GMP methods - Bacterial fermentation
- Guides and trains Associates with DoE, planning and troubleshooting.
- Project management skills, interaction with the PM department
- Communication of project status. Prepares reports for clients by gathering USP data
- Acts as the technical lead for client development projects, communicates project status and effectively provides technical explanation
- Assists production team (operators’ training, troubleshooting and support). Can be trained as GMP back-up operator.
- Draft tech transfer documents from process development department to GMP production team
- Strong organisation skills
- Identify and implements new technologies and solutions for USP development
- Critically analyzes data, interprets and integrates experimental results with project objectives
- Identifies potential problems and troubleshoot
- Keeps track and ensures that laboratory equipment, consumables and supplies are in sufficient stock, and communicates the needs to the Lab Supervisor/Senior Scientist
- PhD in a relevant field or MSc with a relevant experience
- Proficient in English verbal and written communication skills to convey and receive ideas and instructions from and to others within the organisation. French is a plus.
