UNDP’s Representation Office in Brussels supports and promotes the partnership between the European Union (EU) and UNDP, built on shared values and objectives for advancing peace and security, human rights and development. Both parties are committed to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to supporting countries’ progress and investing in their efforts to end poverty, protect the planet and build prosperity for all.

This position is placed within the EU Contract Management Unit (CMU) which focuses primarily on supporting globally UNDP-led implementation of EU-funded operations.

UNDP’s Representation Office in Brussels seeks an intern with an interest in development issues and EU affairs. The internship will provide an opportunity to gain in depth knowledge on the EU contractual requirements and procedures starting from project formulation, contract signature, project implementation and closure.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Under the overall supervision of the EU Programme Analyst, the intern shall perform the following tasks:

- Draft and consolidate documents;
- Collect and catalogue information relating to EU-UNDP cooperation, as per given specifications;
- Assist in the organization of conferences, fora, or other collaborative events;
- Assist in data processing (for PowerPoint presentations, infographics, etc.);
- Perform other tasks as may be reasonably required.

- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN/UNDP;
- Demonstrates integrity and fairness, by modelling the UN/UNDP’s values and ethical standards;
- Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.

**Required Skills and Experience**:
**Languages**:
Fluency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in French and/or Spanish will be an asset.

**Eligibility**:

- be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as Bachelor’s degree or equivalent), preferably in the field of International Relations, Development Studies, Economics or other relevant discipline;
- be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a Master’s programme, or higher) preferably in the field of International Relations, Development Studies, Economics or other relevant discipline;
- have recently graduated with a university degree as defined above and, if selected, must start the internship within one year of graduation;
- be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship programme and undertake the internship as part of the programme.

The successful applicant will be requested to provide electronic versions of the following documents upon selection:

- Letter from university confirming current enrolment and graduation date;
- Letter of recommendation from a professor;
- Copy of school transcript;
- Copy of passport;
- Recent Medical Certificate of Good Health;
- Proof of medical insurance covering the duration of the internship period.

**General conditions**:

- In accordance with the UNDP Internship policy, UNDP interns are eligible to receive a monthly stipend, with a rate that varies depending on the duty location. The stipend will be paid monthly, and part-time internship arrangements are pro-rated accordingly.
- Where an intern is financially supported by an institution, government or third party, UNDP will pay the intern the difference, if any, between the external financial support provided and the applicable UNDP stipend.
- Except for the stipend, all other expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring government or institutions.
- Interns are not considered staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
- The purpose of the internship programme is not to lead to further employment with UNDP, but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.
